ABSTRACT

Correlation- and regression analyses were carried out of relatedness of industrial chemical substances and pesticides LD50 (LC50) to their maximum allowable concentration in the air of the working environment and permissible diurnal doses in enteral route (according to the standard basis of the nineties). Highly reliable regression equations have been derived, which can be made use of in practice provided acute and subacute experiments aimed at determining LD50 (LC50) and complex (qualimetric) assessment of cumulative properties of the studied substances will be carried out.

ABSTRACT

Based on standards set up in the 1990s correlation and regression analyses were performed of relationship between maximum permissible concentration (MPC) of xenobiotics in the air of the working environment and their MPCs in the atmospheric air, water bodies (with these being recognized as health hazard from hygienic-and-toxicological standpoints) or allowable diurnal dose. Highly reliable equations of regression were obtained that rely on preliminary determination of safe level of exposure in the air of the working environment and oral-and-inhalation coefficient on the level of standards set up by results of acute and subacute experiments.

ABSTRACT

A multi-component composition of RSB-500 of the not strictly fixed quantitative composition as a model one and four additional mixtures of the fixed composition have been studied, as well as the character of the combined effect of its components. It has been found out, that for the composition of RSB-500 the total threshold concentration is 0.4 mg/l according to BOD, and the maximal no-effect dose is 0.27 mg/kg. Potentiation of the effect of the components is observed according to the influence on BOD, additivity--according to the degree of cumulation. Embryotoxic, gonadotoxic, mutagenic and allergic effects were not observed. The limiting degree of harmfulness is general toxic (BOD stimulation), the fourth degree of danger. It is recommended to maintain sanitary control according to nitriltrimethylphosphonic acid on the level 0.3 mg/l and phosphorous acid on the level 0.07 mg/l.

ABSTRACT

The appearance of the toxicity phenomenon in the mixture with the simultaneous analysis of the characters of the combined actions of the elements were studied in experiments using as a model incredop composition to determine the significance of each components and quantitative interactions. It was found, that elimination from this mixture even of a single element or changing in the quantitative interactions between elements caused the changes in the toxicity, levels of the sumulation and characters of the combined actions of the components. Therefore the mixtures must be studied as the single object with the establishment of according standards which may not correlate with that in the individual compounds.

ABSTRACT

It has been found out on the basis of experimental studies, that the threshold concentration of phosphorous acid is 85.7 mg/l according to the influence on organoleptic water properties, I mg/l--according to the influence on the sanitary regimen of water reservoirs. The preparation is of low toxicity when administered perorally to laboratory animals, cumulation degree is medium. Embryotoxic and gonadotoxic effects, mutagenic and allergic properties have not been detected. The maximum no-effect dose in the chronic experiment is 1.4 mg/kg. MAC is recommended on the level of I mg/l according to the general sanitary indicator of harmfulness (the 3-d class of danger).

ABSTRACT

On the basis of experimental studies it was established, that the threshold concentration of 3-phenoxybenzyl chloride (PBC) according to the influence on organoleptic water properties (odour) is 0.03 mg/l, on the sanitary regimen of water reservoirs (BOD inhibition)--0.3 mg/l. The chemical produces low toxicity when administered parenterally, it is highly toxic when administered subcutaneously; cumulation degree is medium. PBC produces a weak allergic effect, an expressed embryotoxic effect; mutagenic activity was not detected. The maximal no-effect dose according to the embryotoxic effect is 0.12 mg/kg (2.4 mg/l), the calculated maximal no-effect concentration is 0.11-0.34 mg/l when administered subcutaneously. The recommended MAC is 0.03 mg/l according to the organoleptic index of harmfulness (odour) with a note 'dangerous when administered through skin' (the third class of danger).

ABSTRACT

It is shown that the partial regression technique is indifferent to the potential discrimination of different types of combined action, which depend on the ratio of the components and the components' and mixtures' cumulative properties. For the purposes of hygienic analysis and assessment, it would be more appropriate to use the common technique based on reciprocal transitions between mixtures of variable and constant compositions.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with the application of the summation toxicity formula in connexion with the subdivision of substances into isoadditive and non-isoadditive. Experimental data are proposed which confirm the possibility of the formula's application in case with isoadditiveness (as in binary mixtures of avos and cyodrine, chlorovos and lindane). The summation toxicity formula is proposed to be applied to the 1st and 2nd classes of hazardness for establishing working zone air standards.
