ABSTRACT

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LiSBs) with high energy density still face challenges on sluggish conversion kinetics, severe shuttle effects of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs), and low blocking feature of ordinary separators to LiPSs. To tackle these, a novel double-layer strategy to functionalize separators is proposed, which consists of Co with atomically dispersed CoN4 decorated on Ketjen black (Co/CoN4@KB) layer and an ultrathin 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene layer. The theoretical calculations and experimental results jointly demonstrate metallic Co sites provide efficient adsorption and catalytic capability for long-chain LiPSs, while CoN4 active sites facilitate the absorption of short-chain LiPSs and promote the conversion to Li2S. The stacking MXene layer serves as a microscopic barrier to further physically block and chemically anchor leaked LiPSs from the pores and gaps of the Co/CoN4@KB layer, thus preserving LiPSs within efficient anchoring-conversion reaction interfaces to balance the accumulation of "dead S" and Li2S. Consequently, with an ultralight loading of Co/CoN4@KB-MXene, the LiSBs exhibit amazing electrochemical performance even under high sulfur loading and lean electrolyte, and the outperforming performance for lithium-selenium batteries (LiSeBs) can also be achieved. This work exploits a universal and effective strategy of a double-layer functionalized separator to regulate the equilibrium adsorption-catalytic interface, enabling high-energy and long-cycle LiSBs/LiSeBs.

ABSTRACT

Background: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) effectively improves the survival rate and quality of life of primary liver cancer patients, but high-level evidence is lacking. Patients and methods: Patients were selected from 5 tertiary hospitals in Henan Province, China. Two thousand sixty-seven patients with primary liver cancer were included in the study. The electronic medical records (EMRs) of the patients were collected. Patients who received adjunctive TCM treatment and underwent treatment cumulative time for more than 1 month were classified as the TCM intervention cohort. Patients who did not receive adjunctive TCM treatment or underwent treatment cumulative time for less than 1 month were classified as the non-TCM intervention cohort. The main outcome indicators were the survival rate and overall survival time. The propensity score inverse probability weighting method was used to balance the differences between the groups. Results: The primary cohort comprised 2,067 patients, including 462 patients who received adjunctive TCM treatment and 1,605 patients who did not receive adjunctive TCM treatment. The results of the Kaplan‒Meier survival curve indicated that the survival rate and median survival time of the exposure group before and after propensity score weighting were greater than those of the control group (p < 0.0001). Univariate Cox regression analysis after propensity score weighting showed that adjunctive TCM treatment was an independent protective factor for survival [regression coefficient = -0.215, hazard ratio (HR) = 0.8066, 95% confidence interval (CI) (0.6609-0.9844)]. Conclusion: Adjuvant treatment with TCM has a protective effect on the prognosis of patients with primary liver cancer; it can reduce the mortality and prolong the survival time.

ABSTRACT

As a promising energy-storage and conversion anode material for high-power sodium-ion batteries operated at room temperature, the practical application of layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is hindered by volumetric expansion during cycling. To address this issue, a rational design of MoS2 with enlarged lattice spacing aligned vertically on hierarchically porous Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets with partially oxidized rutile and anatase dual-phased TiO2 (MoS2@MXene@D-TiO2) composites via one-step hydrothermal method without following anneal process is reported. This unique "plane-to-surface" structure accomplishes hindering MoS2 from aggregating and restacking, enabling sufficient electrode/electrolyte interaction simultaneously. Meanwhile, the heterogeneous structure among dual-phased TiO2, MoS2, and MXene could constitute a built-in electric field, promoting high Na+ transportation. As a result, the as-constructed 3D MoS2@MXene@D-TiO2 heterostructure delivers admirable high-rate reversible capacity (359.6 mAh g-1 up to 5 A g-1) at room temperature, excellent cycling stability (about 200 mAh g-1) at a low temperature of -30 °C, and superior electrochemical performance in Na+ full batteries by coupling with a Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode. This ingenious design is clean and facile to inspire the potential of advanced low-dimensional heterogeneous structure electrode materials in the application of high-performance sodium-ion batteries.

ABSTRACT

Lithium sulfur (Li-S) battery has exhibited great application potential in next-generation high-density secondary battery systems due to their excellent energy density and high specific capacity. However, the practical industrialization of Li-S battery is still affected by the low conductivity of sulfur and its discharge product (Li2S2/Li2S), the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfide (Li2Sn, 4 ≤ n ≤ 8) during charging/discharging process and so on. Here, cobalt disulfide/reduced graphene oxide (CoS2/rGO) composites were easily and efficiently prepared through an energy-saving microwave-assisted hydrothermal method and employed as functional interlayer on commercial polypropylene separator to enhance the electrochemical performance of Li-S battery. As a physical barrier and second current collector, the porous conductive rGO can relieve the shuttle effect of polysulfides and ensure fast electron/ion transfer. Polar CoS2 nanoparticles uniformly distributed on rGO provide strong chemical adsorption to capture polysulfides. Benefitting from the synergy of physical and chemical constraints on polysulfides, the Li-S battery with CoS2/rGO functional separator exhibits enhanced conversion kinetics and excellent electrochemical performance with a high cycling initial capacity of 1,122.3 mAh g-1 at 0.2 C, good rate capabilities with 583.9 mAh g-1 at 2 C, and long-term cycle stability (decay rate of 0.08% per cycle at 0.5 C). This work provides an efficient and energy/time-saving microwave hydrothermal method for the synthesis of functional materials in stable Li-S battery.

ABSTRACT

After the mir-155-5p over expressed in gastric cancer cells, the expression profile chip was adopted to screen its target genes. Some of the intersection of target genes were selected based on the bioinformatics prediction, in order to study the mechanism of its function and role of research. Affymetrix eukaryotic gene expression spectrum was conducted to screen mir-155-5p regulated genetic experiment. Western blot technique was employed to detect and screen the protein expression of target genes. Mimics was transfected in BGC-823 of gastric cancer cells. Compared with mimics-nc group and mock group, the mRNA expression quantities of SMAD1, STAT1, CAB39, CXCR4 and CA9 were significantly lower. After the gastric cancer cells BGC-823 and MKN-45 had been transfected by mimics, compared with mimics-nc (MNC) group and mock (MOCK) group, it was decreased for the protein expression of SMAD1, STAT1 and CAB39 in mimics (MIMICS) group. The verification of qRT-PCR demonstrated that SMAD1, STAT1, CAB39, CXCR4 and CA9 were the predicted target genes and target proteins of mir-155-5p, the over expression of mir-155-5p could enable the decreasing of its expression level in gastric cancer cells MKN-45 and BGC-823.
