ABSTRACT

Developing a rapid detection method of Cr(VI) and ascorbic acid (AA) is vital in the food and environmental fields. Herein, an anthrylimidazole-based fluorescent ionic liquid (AI-FIL) with the advantageous fluorescent properties was successfully prepared and used to construct a promising "on-off-on" fluoroprobe for rapid/sensitive Cr(VI) and AA detection. Cr(VI) could effectively quench the fluorescence of AI-FIL owing to the inner-filter effect and photoinduced electron-transfer process. However, the decreased fluorescence could be rapidly recovered by AA owing to the redox reaction between AA and Cr(VI). For Cr(VI) detection, a satisfactorily linear response (0.03-300 µM) was achieved with the corresponding detection limit of 9 nM. For AA detection, a good linearity from 1 to 1000 µM was obtained with the resultant detection limit of 0.3 µM. Moreover, the AI-FIL based fluoroprobe was successfully utilized for Cr(VI) and AA detection in food and water samples with satisfactory accuracy and precision.

ABSTRACT

Ischemic stroke has become a severe disease endangering human life. However, few studies have analyzed the radiomics features that are of great clinical significance for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients with ischemic stroke. Due to sufficient cerebral blood flow information in dynamic susceptibility contrast perfusion-weighted imaging (DSC-PWI) images, this study aims to find the critical features hidden in DSC-PWI images to characterize hypoperfusion areas (HA) and normal areas (NA). This study retrospectively analyzed 80 DSC-PWI data of 56 patients with ischemic stroke from 2013 to 2016. For exploring features in HA and NA,13 feature sets (F method ) were obtained from different feature selection algorithms. Furthermore, these 13 F method were validated in identifying HA and NA and distinguishing the proportion of ischemic lesions in brain tissue. In identifying HA and NA, the composite score (CS) of the 13 F method ranged from 0.624 to 0.925. F Lasso in the 13 F method achieved the best performance with mAcc of 0.958, mPre of 0.96, mAuc of 0.982, mF1 of 0.959, and mRecall of 0.96. As to classifying the proportion of the ischemic region, the best CS was 0.786, with Acc of 0.888 and Pre of 0.863. The classification ability was relatively stable when the reference threshold (RT) was <0.25. Otherwise, when RT was >0.25, the performance will gradually decrease as its increases. These results showed that radiomics features extracted from the Lasso algorithms could accurately reflect cerebral blood flow changes and classify HA and NA. Besides, In the event of ischemic stroke, the ability of radiomics features to distinguish the proportion of ischemic areas needs to be improved. Further research should be conducted on feature engineering, model optimization, and the universality of the algorithms in the future.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Capsaicin is a specific agonist of TRPV1 (multimodal sensory receptor), which improves oropharyngeal dysphagia by increasing sensory input from the oropharynx and hypopharynx and by increasing repetitive stimulation of the cerebral cortex. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the therapeutic effect of capsaicin on swallowing disorders in stroke patients and the elderly. Method: We searched Medline, Embase, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases. We used the Mesh terms search database to screen all clinical trials that complied with the inclusion criteria. Studies were subjected to literature screening, quality assessment, and data extraction to remove studies that did not meet the inclusion criteria. After literature screening, quality assessment, and data extraction, a systematic review and meta-analysis of the included study were performed. Results: This systematic review and meta-analysis were prospectively registered on PROSPERO under registration number CRD42022313958. Five high-quality randomized controlled trials were ultimately included. The results of our meta-analysis showed a more significant reduction in swallowing function score change in the capsaicin group compared to the control group [SMD = -1.30, 95% CI: (-2.35, -0.25), P = 0.01] and on the Water swallowing test the improvement was significantly higher in the capsaicin group [RR = 2.46, 95% CI: (1.73, 3.50), P < 0.0001]. Conclusions: Although the results of our meta-analysis showed that capsaicin improved swallowing function, most studies had an unclear bias and included few studies. ABSTRACT

In this study, two typical minerals (diatomite and bentonite) were applied during composting, and their influences on antibiotics, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), intI1 and the bacterial communities were investigated. The relative abundance of total ARGs decreased by 53.72% and 59.54% in diatomite and bentonite addition compared with control on day 42. The minerals addition also reduced the relative abundance of intI1, as much as 41.41% and 59.81% in diatomite and bentonite treatments. Proteobacteria and Firmicutes were the dominant candidate hosts of the major ARGs. There was a significant correlation between total ARGs and intI1 during the composting. Structural equation models further demonstrated that intI1 and antibiotics were the predominant direct factors responsible for ARG variations, and composting properties and bacterial community composition also shifted the variation of ARG profiles by influencing intI1. Overall, these findings suggest that diatomite and bentonite could decrease the potential proliferation of ARGs in chicken manure.

ABSTRACT

An easily available N-heterocyclic carbene-palladium(II)-1-methylimidazole complex showed efficient catalytic activity in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of benzylic chlorides with arylboronic acids or potassium phenyltrifluoroborate in neat water under mild conditions, providing an alternative method for the synthesis of diarylmethane derivatives, which widely exist in molecules with pharmaceutical activities and are also frequently found as subunits in supramolecules. Under the optimal conditions, all reactions performed well to give the desired products in moderate to almost quantitative yields in an environmentally benign medium within 12 h, extending their applications toward potentially industrial processes.
