The paper deals with the assessment of hemodynamic parameters in the region of the circle of Willis, by using various exercise tests and transcranial Doppler study during cardiac operations under extracorporeal circulation. Some points of the timely diagnosis of air and material microembolisms are specified. There is evidence that the application of these procedures is substantiated and they may be employed in clinical practice to undertake earlier preventive measures against cervical circulatory disorders.

The paper covers the main characteristics of a computer complex for diagnosis of cerebral lesions, which is based on ultrasonic one-dimensional echolocation. The application of current computers is shown to expand the potentialities of this well-known method to a greater extent. A simultaneous recording of A-echo with a pulseogram localizes the large vessels of the brain, which is a good supplementary tool for Doppler intracraniography. It is emphasized that the automatic processing of experimental findings substantially accelerates and simplifies an experimental process.

The paper covers the software pattern for the ultrasonic image filing and processing system. The system records images on a computer display in real time or still, processes them by local filtration techniques, makes different measurements and stores the findings in the graphic database. It is stressed that the database should be implemented as a network version.

Five Hybridoma clones producing monoclonal antibodies (MAT) to bovine nerve growth factor (NGF) were developed. The biological effects of antibodies were studied: the influence of MAT on neurit outgrowth induced by NGF in rat pheochromocytoma PC12 or spinal chicken ganglia was investigated. MAT fell into two groups. Two of them inhibited neurit induction by NGF, three others stimulated this process. The stimulation of the neurit outgrowth by MAT was observed at low concentration of NGF (3 ng/ml of culture medium). Mechanisms of antibodies effects are discussed.

Treatment of molecular crystals of the bovine cytochrome oxidase and the cytochrome oxidase-cytochrome c complex with thermally activated tritium leads to highly labelled cytochrome oxidase preparations. HPLC separation of its subunits and measurements of radioactivity of each polypeptide allow to determine the shielding of cytochrome oxidase surface sites by cytochrome c in the complex.

HPLC of the beef heart cytochrome oxidase subunits on TSKgel-column has been studied. It was found that the resolution of the subunits depends on the sodium dodecyl sulphate and buffer concentration. Strong interaction of subunits Va, VIc and VIIb with hydrophobic polypeptide chains was observed.

The beef heart cytochrome oxidase (EC 1.9.3.1) has been purified by hydrophobic chromatography. The enzyme has been resolved into 11 different polypeptides by SDS/urea gel-electrophoresis.
