ABSTRACT

Nutrition plays an important role in metabolic processes in the body. Studying the various parties of metabolic processes in the body in a number of diseases, considered in the framework of the metabolic syndrome, points to the systemic nature of the pathogenic mechanisms, including in addition to food factor sociology-economic, genetic, medical, pathology of the digestive system, etc., leading to a breach of the cell, receptor, enzyme interactions.

ABSTRACT

Irritated bowel syndrome (IBS) is a leading pathology among the so-called functional diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The development of methods for their treatment including physiotherapeutic modalities is based on the knowledge of peculiarities of the clinical features of various forms of IBS characterized by a combination of various etiological factor, such as social conditions, pathogenetic mechanisms, and individual characteristics of the patients. Insufficient effectiveness of the medicamental treatment of irritated bowel syndrome due to poor knowledge of its nature and pathogenetic mechanisms require the application of a variety of physiotherapeutic methods and physical factors including interference currents, cryotherapy, sinusoidal modulated currents, running pulsed magnetic field, balneo- and peloidotherapy, etc.). These methods are analysed in the paper in conjunction with their analgesic and sedative effects normalizing the motor intestinal function. The authors emphasize the necessity of taking into consideration both localization and intensity of therapeutic effects for the manifestation of biological action of the applied physical factors prescribed for the treatment of irritated bowel syndrome.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the present study was to evaluate therapeutic effects of sinusoidal modulated currents (SMC) applied for the treatment of patients at different stages of biliary sludge (BS) under conditions of an outpatient clinic. Biliary sludge is currently considered to be a precursor of cholelithiasis known to be a leading pathology of the digestive system responsible for the high surgery rate. It was shown that the introduction of the technique based on sinusoidal modulated currents into the clinical practice of an outpatient clinic increases the efficacy of management of the patients presenting with stage 1 and 2 biliary sludge and showing neither well-apparent clinical symptoms nor signs of metabolic disorders that imply the necessity of more thorough examination and combined application of sinusoidal modulated currents and mediacmental therapy.

ABSTRACT

Patients with viral hepatitis have disturbances of biliary tract motor function with the tendency to hypertonus of Oddi's sphincter, changes of physic-colloid properties of bile with increase in density of gall and hepatic bile, pH shift to acid side, microlites formation, disorders in biochemical composition of bile. More than 80% patients have biliar insufficiency. According to our data, with the purpose to correct of disturbances of hepatic exocrine function in patients with viral hepatitis and to prevent stone formation, it is reasonable to use together with antiviral therapy also intravenous injection of ozonated physiological solution and preparations of ursodeoxycholic acid.

ABSTRACT

Primary chronic gastroduodenitis (PCG) is one of the most frequent diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Timely and efficient treatment of patients with PCG promotes ulcer prevention. In this connection, an urgent problem of restorative medicine is to develop medical programs with active introduction of pharmacophysiotherapeutic complexes, in particular, laser therapy and anti-secretory preparation (famotidine) that increase therapeutic efficacy of treatment of this disease. To this end, we give results of treatment of 50 patients with primary chronic gastroduodenitis (26 having undergone laser therapy only, and 24 having had a combination of laser therapy and famotidine), which demonstrated that the complex action method has a more adequate effect on pathogenetic components in this disease than monotherapy.

ABSTRACT

The use of the SAE for the GIT and MC has a stimulating effect on the processes of bile production and secretion for patients with the physical and chemical stage of the gallstone disease. Over a short period of time the SAE for the GIT and MC normalizes the biliary tract motor functions removing the dissynergism of the biliary tract sphincter organ and restoring the sphincter motor functions. The SAE for the GIT and MC has a positive effect on major factors of bile concentration and components ratio aimed at the reduction of lithogenicity and its colloid stability improvement. The intracavitary electrical stimulation with the SAE for the GIT and MC both as a monotherapy and one of the complex anti-relapse methods is an efficient and simple method and has no side effects or complications. Therefore, it may be recommended for the treatment of patients with the physical and chemical stage of the gallstone disease.

ABSTRACT

120 patients with chronic constipation (CC) were examined using assessment of the immune status, rectoromanoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, myography, stool examination for volatile fatty acids and dysbacteriosis. The patients were divided into three groups. Group 1 (n = 58) received cryoamplipulsetherapy, group 2 (n = 29)--creotherapy, group 3 (n = 33)--amplipulsetherapy. Changes in clinical and functional indices show that the response in group 1, 2 and 3 was 88, 75 and 68%, respectively.

ABSTRACT

The peculiarities of nightly acid formation in the patients with peptic ulcer (PU) and primary chronic gastroduodenitis (PCG) were examined with apparatus "Gastroskan-24", that has computer's program to evaluate the data of intragastric 24-hours pH measurement. 24 patients with PU and 36 patients with PCG were examined. The increase of nightly acid formation was higher in the patients with PU versus the patients with PCG. It was revealed that pH depends on smoking. The possibility of risk group to peptic ulcer definition was demonstrated in patients with PCG.

ABSTRACT

The proposed technique of cryomassage in outpatient setting promotes a complete healing of duodenal ulcer (DU) in patients with DU exacerbation. Healing of the ulcer is accompanied by improvement of blood flow in the zones of segmental innervation of the gastroduodenal system and by recovery of impaired cellular and humoral immunity in most of the patients.

ABSTRACT

Epigastric exposure to EHF (460 MHz) electromagnetic field and administration of Tribimol were combined in the treatment of 103 patients with uncomplicated duodenal ulcer. As shown by clinical, endoscopic and morphological examinations, biochemical and imprint tests for Helicobacter pylori, intragastric pH-metry, the method is pathogenetically sound and can be recommended for combined treatment and rehabilitation of patients with duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori.

ABSTRACT

In early convalescence after viral hepatitis C the liver region of the patients was exposed to the decimetric waves to prevent transformation of the acute disease into a chronic one. A total of 45 relevant patients were exposed to electromagnetic field of ultrahigh frequency (460 MHz). A positive effect on the disease course and liver function was noted.

ABSTRACT

90 patients with chronic gastroduodenitis (41, 45 and 14 cases with primary, secondary and erosive disease, respectively) were exposed to SMC + ultrasound. The effect was assessed in relation to clinical and endoscopic pictures, gastric acid production, functions of the liver and pancreas, immune status. Two control groups received SMC and ultrasound separately. The response was observed in 92.6% in the study group against 70% and 75% of the patients in the control groups on SMC and ultrasound, respectively.
