ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of perioperative recombinant human erythropoietin (r-HuEPO, epoetin alfa) in stimulating hematopoiesis and reducing allogeneic blood transfusion requirements in major head and neck cancer surgery. STUDY DESIGN: Double-blinded, placebo-controlled, randomized, prospective clinical trial.
