ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: We report a rare case of horses-hoe kidney trauma.METHODS: 67 years old man with a horseshoe kidney, which presented a fracture of the isthmus after falling.RESULTS: The diagnosis was made by IV contrast CT scan. He underwent exploratory laparotomy due to hemodynamic instability and radiologic findings on the CT scan.CONCLUSIONS: The rupture of a horseshoe kidney is a rare injury. CT scan is the test of choice to classify the degree of injury. Depending on the patient’s hemodynamic stability and the findings on the CT scan the options are conservative orimmediate sur-gical treatment(AU)

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

A case of traumatic thrombosis of renal vascular pedicule in a 15 years old patient is presented. The different diagnostic and therapeutic problems which were seen are discussed. Special emphasis is made on the necessity of an early diagnosis for the revascularization techniques to be effective, or the nephrectomy is otherwise indicated.

ABSTRACT

A case of Aspergillus mycetoma of the kidney in a patient with lymphoblastoma receiving intensive cytostatic and steroid drugs is reported. Only four cases of Aspergillus infection of the kidney have so far been reported. Aspergillus infection of the kidney without disseminated fungal disease is a very rare clinical entity. In an extensive review of the world literature we have found only four cases previously reported [1-3], three in insulin-dependent diabetic patients and one in a patient with a ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Herein we describe the first case of a right kidney mycetoma in a patient with lymphoblastoma and treated intensively with cytostatic drugs and steroids.

ABSTRACT

We present a case of vesical extrophy complicated by an adenocarcinoma in a 35-year old patient. It is this type of neoformation which most frequently affects the extrophic bladder and which, contrary to what has happened in most of the cases published, quickly presented bone and skin metastases.

ABSTRACT

A case of female urethral leiomyoma is presented. Due to its site of origin, at the bladder neck, the clinical picture resembled that of male prostatic median lobe enlargement. TUR was performed successfully and the authors feel that this should be considered the procedure of choice for leiomyomas arising in the proximal female urethra.

ABSTRACT

A review is made of nine cases of priapism, seven of which were idiopathic and two secondary. The different etiological and clinical aspects are analyzed. All the patients underwent surgical treatment, with 42.8% of good, long-term results and the authors always recommend aggressive and early, surgical treatment.
