ABSTRACT

The split-cylinder resonator method was adapted to measure the microwave properties (dielectric permittivity and loss tangent) of thin ferroelectric films on a dielectric substrate. The mathematical model for calculating the resonance frequency of the split-cylinder resonator was adjusted for the "ferroelectric film-substrate" structure. An approach for correcting the gap effect based on calibrating with a single-layer dielectric was introduced and used to study two-layer dielectrics. The prototype of a split-cylinder resonator designed to measure single-layer dielectric plates at a frequency of 10 GHz was presented. The resonator calibration was performed using dielectric PTFE samples and fused silica, and an example of the correction function was suggested. The measurement error was estimated, and recommendations on the acceptable parameter range for the material under investigation were provided. The method was demonstrated to measure the microwave properties of a ferroelectric film on a fused silica substrate.

ABSTRACT

In this study, the structural and microwave properties of BaTiZrO3 films deposited on alumina substrate were investigated. The films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering in Ar/O2 ambient atmosphere. The research of the island films at the initial stages of the growth showed that the pyramidal type of growth prevails. It was demonstrated that as-deposited film is a BaZrTiO3 solid solution with a deficiency of titanium compared to the target. The air annealing at temperatures of 1100-1200 °C leads to the formation of a well-formed crystalline solid solution of BaZr0.3Ti0.7O3 with a predominant orientation (h00). The investigation of microwave parameters of the films fabricated at different conditions showed that the best performance with the tunability of 4.6 (78%), and the Q-factor of 18 to 40 at 2 GHz was achieved at annealing temperature of 1150 °C.

ABSTRACT

Based on porous silicate glasses obtained by ion exchange, glass-ceramic materials containing a solid solution of barium-strontium titanate with a dielectric constant of more than 100 at microwaves, were synthesized for the first time. Glass-ceramic structures were studied using X-ray diffraction, secondary electron microscopy, Mössbauer spectroscopy and porometry methods. Electrical characteristics such as permittivity and losses of as-prepared and annealed in oxygen medium samples were also investigated at microwaves. It was shown that the method of obtaining porous glasses, due to ion exchange between KFeSi glass and LiNO3 and NaNO3 melts, allows for controlling a wide range of pore sizes and makes it possible to form glass porous structures with pores of the required size. The efficiency of the process of filling a porous matrix with a ferroelectric filler was investigated and the average depth of its penetration was estimated. It was shown that annealing glass-ceramic structures in an oxygen environment had a positive effect on their structural and electrical characteristics. Glass-ceramic structures demonstrate a significant increase in permittivity and a decrease in losses after high-temperature treatment in oxygen.

ABSTRACT

Eu3+ doped porous nanostructured SrTiO3 films and powder fabricated by sol-gel route without using any precursor template are characterized by different morphology and phase composition. The films show red and yellow luminescence with the most intensive photoluminescence (PL) bands at 612 nm and 588 nm, respectively. Raman, secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of undoped nanostructured porous SrTiO3 films showed the presence of TiO2, SrO, and SrTiO3 phases and their components. The undoped porous SrTiO3 films are photosensitive and demonstrate resistive switching. The capacitance-voltage hysteresis loops with the width of about 6 V in the frequency range of 2 kHz-2 MHz were observed.
