ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present the vector dataset of the operational zones of e-scooter shared mobility services in the voivodeship capital cities in Poland. The data were acquired manually from the applications of a single provider of e-scooters for each city. The dataset contains not only the size and the position of the geographic service areas, or geofences of e-scooter sharing schemes, but also the size and position of no-parking zones, parking zones and low-speed zones, if applicable. The data can be used for various researches which cover the topic of micro-mobility, accessibility and broader issues connected with urban development and spatial management. The dataset captures the state of the e-scooter sharing scheme in the voivodeship capital cities in Poland at the beginning of August 2020. Additionally, the data are accompanied by the table of cities with identified providers of e-scooter sharing systems.

ABSTRACT

Efforts to reduce human-wildlife-conflict are integral to wildlife management and conservation in urban habitats. In our study, we identified the HWC situations in urban areas of Krakow city, based on animal-vehicle collisions, intrusion to property, and damages. Hot spot analysis and Moran's Index were used to identify the location of maximum potential conflict. We analysed 2512 incidents in which animals (of which 85% included mammals and 15% birds) were involved in conflict situations between 2007 and 2013. A significant seasonal variation was observed among the animals. We also identified roe deer (50.23%), red fox (22.80%) and wild boar (11.40%), as the three prominent conflicted animals. Getis-Ord Gi* analysis was used to identify spatial clusters of conflict. A significant spatial association was found in the location of clusters of hot spots in specific land-use based on Moran's Index. Hot spots of roe deer and wild boar were high in grasslands and in forest and for red fox in built-up area. The results underscore the notion that conservation and wildlife management efforts must take into account differences in the seasonality of HWC among species. This information can be used to inform mitigation strategies.

ABSTRACT

The main purpose of our research was to assess the chronic exposure of red foxes to Cd, Pb and Zn. We have determined concentrations of these metals in the kidney, liver and muscle of 36 red foxes hunted between December 2002 and March 2003 in differently polluted areas in southern Poland. Tissue concentrations of Pb and Cd in the red foxes significantly co-varied with concentrations of these elements in the soil, and differed between the tissues. We compared concentrations of Pb, Cd, and Zn in red foxes with two rodent species, Apodemus flavicollis and Myodes glareolus, trapped simultaneously in the same area. Concentrations of Pb and Cd appeared significantly higher in the red foxes than in the rodents, but the slopes of the relationship between metal concentrations in tissues and in soil were similar in all species. This indicates that extrapolation from results of monitoring studies conducted on rodents to mammalian carnivores is possible but requires applying an extrapolation factor.

ABSTRACT

UNLABELLED: The popularization of biopsychosocial model allowed for broader introduction of psychological means of treatment methods, among which, a group therapy takes a special place. This form of therapy, although held in groups, focuses on helping an individual patient to recover. Neurotic disorders connected with stress and somatoform disorders are group of diseases in which symptoms like anxiety, insomia, decreased self-assessment, pessimistic thoughts reduce the level of patients' functioning. Group therapy, besides realization of each patient's individual goals, allows for reduction of symptoms of a disease and general improvement of functioning. In spite of standarized therapeutical actions, effects of a therapy are different in case of each patient. The authors decided to realize comparative researches of selected aspects of psychological functioning at the beginning and at the end of the therapy. The aim of the study was to verify an effectiveness of a group therapy in the neurotic and stress disorders and evaluation of the influence of motivation of therapy on the recovery process. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Patients with neurotic and stress disorders, hospitalized in Psychosomatic Ward of 7th Navy Hospital in Gdansk were qualified for the examinations. In the study the following methods were used: (1) GHQ-28 by D. Goldberg (2) Scale of the motivation to the therapy--Author's own conception (3) STAI--C.D. Spielberger, J. Strelau, M. Tysarczyk, Wrzesniewski. (4) SWLS (5) GSES--Schwarcer. (6)LOT--R. Scheier. (7) CECS--Watson. A group of 36 patients was examined in the research--27 (75%) women and 9 (25%) men. The age of patients was from 20 to 68 years (average age--44.2 yrs.). RESULTS: In the most of examined patients the psychological improvement was noticed. The lack of noticeable improvement was observed in 8 cases (22.2%) patients. Results of the examinations showed the effectiveness of group therapy in improving of general patients' activity. Level of anxiety, self-satisfaction, sense of self-efficacy and disposable optimism were improved. Patients with low motivation to the therapy and with low social status didn't achieve noticeable improvement. CONCLUSIONS: In the majority of patients the improvement of health condition and reduction of anxiety level were determined. More than half of examined patients finished hospitalization with higher sense of self-efficacy, higher optimism and higher self-satisfaction as well. The group of patients without improvement in measured functions presented the low level of motivation to therapy and low social status.
