ABSTRACT

With the increasing global concern over carbon emissions, geopolymers have garnered significant attention due to their energy-saving, waste utilization, and eco-friendly advantages. Metakaolin and slag, as aluminum-containing mineral materials in geopolymer production, have been widely studied and applied. Previous research has mainly focused on performance design and theoretical development, while the underlying mechanisms at the microscopic level remain unclear. In this study, we employed molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the microscale reaction behavior of geopolymers, exploring the induction process and structural evolution during the initial stages, and revealing the similarities and differences under alkali activation for different materials. Our findings indicate that the alkali activation process can be divided into two stages: mineral crystal deconstruction and oligomer polymerization. The role of NaOH differs between low-calcium and high-calcium systems, where in the low-calcium system, Na+ substitutes Ca2+ due to Ca2+ deficiency, participating in the formation of the network framework. Moreover, the high-calcium system exhibits a faster formation of the gel phase during alkali activation compared to the low-calcium system. This study provides valuable insights into the research and application of geopolymers.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore generating a health utility value set for the Chinese medicine Quality of life-11 Dimensions (CQ-11D), a utility instrument designed to assess patients' health status while receiving TCM treatment, among the Chinese population. METHODS: The study was designed to recruit at least 2400 respondents across mainland China to complete one-to-one, face-to-face interviews. Respondents completed ten discrete choice experiment with survival duration (DCETTO) tasks during interviews. The conditional logit models were used to generate the health utility value set for the CQ-11D using the DCETTO data. RESULTS: A total of 2,586 respondents were invited to participate in the survey and 2498 valid interviews were completed (a completion rate of 96.60%). The modified conditional logit model with combing logically inconsistent levels was ultimately selected to construct the health utility value set for the CQ-11D instrument. The range of the measurable health utility value was -0.868 ~ 1. CONCLUSION: The study provides the first utility value set for the CQ-11D among the Chinese population. The CQ-11D and corresponding utility value set can be used to measure the health utility values of patients undergoing traditional Chinese medicine interventions, and further facilitate relevant cost-utility analyses. The application of the CQ-11D can support TCM resource allocation in China.

ABSTRACT

High-quality ground observation networks are an important basis for scientific research. Here, an automatic soil observation network for high-resolution satellite applications in China (SONTE-China) was established to measure both pixel- and multilayer-based soil moisture and temperature. SONTE-China is distributed across 17 field observation stations with a variety of ecosystems, covering both dry and wet zones. In this paper, the average root mean squared error (RMSE) of station-based soil moisture for well-characterized SONTE-China sites is 0.027 m3/m3 (0.014~0.057 m3/m3) following calibration for specific soil properties. The temporal and spatial characteristics of the observed soil moisture and temperature in SONTE-China conform to the geographical location, seasonality and rainfall of each station. The time series Sentinel-1 C-band radar signal and soil moisture show strong correlations, and the RMSE of the estimated soil moisture from radar data was lower than 0.05 m3/m3 for the Guyuan and Minqin stations. SONTE-China is a soil moisture retrieval algorithm that can validate soil moisture products and provide basic data for weather forecasting, flood forecasting, agricultural drought monitoring and water resource management.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by the host's imbalanced response to infection. Due to lack of effective treatments, it has always been the difficulty and focus of clinical treatment of sepsis. Studies have shown that pro-brain-derived neurotrophic factor (proBDNF) binds to the high-affinity total neurotrophic factor p75 neurotrophin receptor (p75NTR), which activates downstream signaling cascades and disrupts immunological inflammation and plays an important role in the progression of sepsis. This study aims to explore the expression changes of lymphocyte-derived proBDNF/p75NTR in patients with sepsis and its effect on lymphocyte differentiation. METHODS: From the healthy donors (control group, n=40) and sepsis patients (sepsis group, n=40) admitted to the hospital for the first time, peripheral blood samples and blood routine clinical detection indicators were obtained. By using flow cytometry, the proportion of lymphocyte subsets and their expression of proBDNF/p75NTR were examined. The peripheral blood lymphocytes were isolated from the control group and incubated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Flow cytometry analysis technology was used to detect the expression of proBDNF/p75NTR on LPS-treated lymphocyte subsets. On this basis, we investigated the effects on lymphocyte differentiation by inhibiting p75NTR. RESULTS: White blood cell count, neutrophil count, and neutrophil percentage of the patients in the sepsis group at admission were significantly higher than those in the control group; on the contrary, lymphocyte count and lymphocyte percentage in the sepsis group were lower than those in the control group (all P<0.001). The patients in the sepsis group had considerably greater neutrophil/lymphocyte and monocyte/lymphocyte ratios than those in the control group (both P<0.05). In the peripheral blood of sepsis patients, proBDNF expression was upregulated on CD19+ B cells, whereas p75NTR expression was elevated on B cells, CD4+ T cells, and CD8+ T cells (all P<0.05). ProBDNF/p75NTR expression was upregulated by LPS stimulation in vitro in peripheral blood cells of the control group (P<0.05), and this tendency was similar to the expression alterations in peripheral lymphocytes of the sepsis group. Inhibition of p75NTR increased CD4+ T cell and CD19+ B cell percentages, cytokine expression of IL-4 and IL-10, and reduced IL-1ß and IL-6 production (all P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The immunosuppressive state of sepsis patients is indicated by a reduction in lymphocyte count and an increase in the proportion of inactive neutrophils. ProBDNF/p75NTR expression is upregulated in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of sepsis patients, and p75NTR inhibition may control lymphocyte differentiation involved in sepsis progression.

ABSTRACT

The difficulty of atmospheric correction based on a radiative transfer model lies in the acquisition of synchronized atmospheric parameters, especially the aerosol optical depth (AOD). At the moment, there is no fully automatic and high-efficiency atmospheric correction method to make full use of the advantages of geostationary meteorological satellites in large-scale and efficient atmospheric monitoring. Therefore, a QUantitative and Automatic Atmospheric Correction (QUAAC) method is proposed which can efficiently correct high-spatial-resolution (HSR) satellite images. QUAAC uses the atmospheric aerosol products of geostationary satellites to match the synchronized AOD according to the temporal and spatial information of HSR satellite images. This method solves the problem that the AOD is difficult to obtain or the accuracy is not high enough to meet the demand of atmospheric correction. By using the obtained atmospheric parameters, atmospheric correction is performed to obtain the surface reflectance (SR). The whole process can achieve fully automatic operation without manual intervention. After QUAAC applied to Gaofen-2 (GF-2) HSR satellite and Himawari-8 (H-8) geostationary satellite, the results show that the effect of QUAAC correction is slightly better than that of the Fast Line-of-sight Atmospheric Analysis of Spectral Hypercubes (FLAASH) correction, and the QUAAC-corrected surface spectral curves have good coherence to that of the synchronously measured by field experiments.

ABSTRACT

Since its launch on September 6, 2008, HJ-1A has been in the orbit for 13 years. The CCD1 sensor on the HJ-1A has four reflected solar bands. Since the calibration frequency is limited to the annual site calibration, cross-calibration is an effective method to improve the calibration frequency. In this paper, we use 420 image pairs of HJ-1A CCD1 and Terra MODIS over the Dunhuang test site for gains calculation, where we take MODIS as the reference sensor. The spectral band adjustment factors (SBAFs) for cross-calibration are then calculated to compensate for the spectral mismatch. The cross-calibration results are also validated by the field calibration results. From 2008 to 2019, a total of six campaigns have been cross-calibrated on the same day. The gain difference between the site calibration and cross-calibration is less than 3%. The long-term cross-calibration results further indicate that due to the adjustment of HJ-1A CCD gain state in October 2009, an abrupt change occurred 405 days after launch. After 12 years of on-orbit operation, the attenuation rate has reached 23.51%, 21.89%, 8.11%, and 13.37%, respectively by the end of 2019 based on the cross-calibration results.

ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: To explore the clustering and influencing factors of unhealthy lifestyles among elderly adults with prediabetes in rural China. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Yiyang, Hunan Province, China. Through multistage cluster random sampling and an oral glucose tolerance test, we screened 461 elderly adults aged 60 years and older with prediabetes out of 2144 elderly adults who were sampled. The prediabetic adults completed a survey examining four common lifestyle factors: diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol use and the ability to acquire diabetes-related knowledge and thereby promote one's own health-diabetes health literacy. The influencing factors were analyzed retrospectively with the Kruskal-Wallis test and ordinal logistic regression. RESULTS: A total of 425 elderly adults completed the survey, of whom 325 were identified with unhealthy lifestyle clustering. The Kruskal-Wallis test showed significant differences between unhealthy lifestyle clusters by age, gender, marital status, occupation and hyperlipidemia (P < 0.05). Ordinal logistic regression showed that female gender (OR = 0.23, 95% CI: 0.15 0.37), personal annual income ≥ 2800 CNY (OR = 0.61, 95% CI: 0.38 0.99) and occupation as a worker (OR = 0.56, 95% CI: 0.34 0.92) were protective factors against unhealthy lifestyle clustering. An unsatisfactory marital status (OR = 1.60, 95% CI: 1.02 2.51) and low diabetes health literacy (OR = 3.17, 95% CI: 1.03 9.81) were risk factors. CONCLUSION: In total, 76.47% of the prediabetic elderly adults in rural China showed unhealthy lifestyle clusters. Being male and having an unsatisfactory marital status, a low personal annual income, an occupation as a farmer and low diabetes health literacy were the main risk factors for unhealthy lifestyle clustering. More effective interventions should be implemented based on these risk factors to prevent diabetes in rural elderly adults.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively evaluate the clinical effect, safety and cost of Qianlieshutong Capsules (QC) in the treatment of chronic prostatitis. METHODS: We searched Cochrane Library, PubMed, Springer, ProQuest, CNKI, Wanfang Data and VIP for randomized controlled trials (RCT) on the treatment of chorionic prostatitis with QC published from January 2000 to May 2018. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two researchers independently completed the screening and evaluation of the articles, extraction of information, and meta-analysis of the included RCTs using the RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS: Totally 10 RCTs involving 1 796 cases were included in this study, in which the chronic prostatitis patients treated by the combination of QC and quinolones all showed a significantly better response than the controls (P < 0.05). QC combined with quinolones cost an average of ¥23 more than quinolones alone with a 1% increase of therapeutic effectiveness, ¥38.39 more with a 1-unit reduction of WBCs, and ¥38.84 more with a 1-point decrease in the NIH-CPSI score. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of QC with quinolones has a better therapeutic efficacy but a higher cost than quinolones alone in the treatment of chronic prostatitis.

ABSTRACT

The present paper performed the evaluation of four dark-object subtraction(DOS) atmospheric correction methods based on 2012 Inner Mongolia experimental data The authors analyzed the impacts of key parameters of four DOS methods when they were applied to ZY-3 CCD data The results showed that (1) All four DOS methods have significant atmospheric correction effect at band 1, 2 and 3. But as for band 4, the atmospheric correction effect of DOS4 is the best while DOS2 is the worst; both DOS1 and DOS3 has no obvious atmospheric correction effect. (2) The relative error (RE) of DOS1 atmospheric correction method is larger than 10% at four bands; The atmospheric correction effect of DOS2 works the best at band 1(AE (absolute error)=0.0019 and RE=4.32%) and the worst error appears at band 4(AE=0.0464 and RE=19.12%); The RE of DOS3 is about 10% for all bands. (3) The AE of atmospheric correction results for DOS4 method is less than 0. 02 and the RE is less than 10% for all bands. Therefore, the DOS4 method provides the best accuracy of atmospheric correction results for ZY-3 image.

ABSTRACT

The accuracy of the calibration coefficients of the ground-based thermal-infrared radiometer CE312 is one of the most important factors affecting the calibration of the thermal-infrared remote sensors. The theory of two calibration methods which calculate the bandpass radiance and spectral radiance respectively is introduced. The calibration of the CE312-1b is conducted with the blackbody in the laboratory, the accuracy and influence factors of the results are conducted by the MODIS data combined with in situ measurements data at Qinghai Lake in Aug 2010. The results show that calibration coefficients of thermal-infrared field radiometer CE312 calculated by the bandpass radiance method has better performance in the accuracy and applicability than the spectral radiance method.

ABSTRACT

Hyper spectrum imager (HSI) loaded on HJ-1A satellite is Chinese first spaceborne hyperspectrum sensor. Since the HSI has no spectrum response function of all channels, the usually used calibration method-reflectance based method has been modified, and a new calibration method is proposed, in which the spectrum response function is neglected. Based on the calibration experiment data of Dunhuang in Aug., 2009, the HSI sensor was calibrated on orbit. The different kinds of spectrum response were constructed based on the formula, and the errors of calibration results with different spectrum response function were analyzed. The results show, expecting for the channels of water vapor and oxygen absorption channel, the influence of spectrum response function in other channel is less than 3%, and the calibration result based on new calibration method can satisfy the application requirement.
