ABSTRACT

Excessive oxidative stress, bacterial infections, and inflammation are the primary factors impeding the healing of skin wounds. Bioactive hydrogels are commonly employed in the treatment of skin injuries. However, the limited solubility of many drugs and active agents in water significantly hampers their effectiveness in hydrogel dressings. In this research, prior to incorporation into the silk fibroin (SF) hydrogel matrix, two active agents curcumin and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were decorated by silk sericin to improve their dispersibility and stability in water. The resultant SF/Ag/C hydrogels combined the biological safety and nontoxicity of SF, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory efficacy of curcumin, and the antibacterial effect of Ag NPs. These properties effectively enhanced wound repair by reducing bacterial infections, mitigating oxidative stress, suppressing the expression of pro-inflammatory factors, and promoting angiogenesis. This study presented a straightforward approach for constructing bioactive hydrogels for the promotion of the wound healing process.

ABSTRACT

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data has raised security concerns. Protecting IoT big data from attacks is crucial. Detecting real-time network attacks efficiently is challenging, especially in the resource-limited IoT setting. To enhance IoT security, intrusion detection systems using traffic features have emerged. However, these face difficulties due to varied traffic feature formats, hindering fast and accurate detection model training. To tackle accuracy issues caused by irrelevant features, a new model, LVW-MECO (LVW enhanced with multiple evaluation criteria), is introduced. It uses the LVW (Las Vegas Wrapper) algorithm with multiple evaluation criteria to identify pertinent features from IoT network data, boosting intrusion detection precision. Experimental results confirm its efficacy in addressing IoT security problems. LVW-MECO enhances intrusion detection performance and safeguards IoT data integrity, promoting a more secure IoT environment.

ABSTRACT

Bacterial infections severely threaten human health; therefore, it is important to endow the matrix for tissue engineering with antibacterial efficiency. The loading of antibacterial drugs on nanomaterials provides an efficient strategy to realize synergistic antibacterial efficiency. By depositing various metal-organic frameworks, such as UIO-66, onto konjac glucomannan (KGM), composite hydrogels (KGM/UIO-66) were created. These hydrogels were used as drug carriers, enabling the development of antibacterial hydrogels with high drug loading capacities (e.g., the maximum loading amount of pterostilbene on KGM/UIO-66 reached 0.157 mg/mg) and sustained drug release. The resulting KGM/UIO-66/pterostilbene hydrogel exhibited a three-dimensional porous structure, excellent biocompatibility, antibacterial efficiency, and anti-inflammatory activity. It effectively protected cells from bacterial attacks while ensuring cell adhesion and proliferation, demonstrating great potential as a three-dimensional substrate for biomedical applications, including tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

ABSTRACT

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) communication devices has brought about significant convenience. However, simultaneously, the destruction of communication infrastructure in emergency situations often leads to communication disruptions and challenges in information dissemination, severely impacting rescue operations and the safety of the affected individuals. To address this challenge, IoT big data analytics and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies have emerged as key elements in the solution. By analyzing large-scale sensor data, user behavior, and communication traffic, IoT big data analytics can provide real-time communication demand prediction and network optimization strategies, offering decision support for post-disaster communication reconstruction. Given the unique characteristics of post-disaster scenarios, this paper proposes a UAV-assisted communication coverage strategy based on IoT big data analytics. This strategy employs UAVs in a cruising manner to assist in communication by partitioning the target area into multiple cells, each satisfying the minimum data requirements for user communication. Depending on the distribution characteristics of users, flight-communication or hover-communication protocols are selectively employed to support communication. By optimizing the UAV's flight speed and considering the coverage index, fairness index, and average energy efficiency of the mission's target area, the Inner Spiral Cruise Communication Coverage (IS-CCC) algorithm is proposed to plan the UAV's cruising trajectory and achieve UAV-based communication coverage. Simulation results demonstrate that this strategy can achieve energy-efficient cruising communication coverage in regions with complex user distributions, thereby reducing energy consumption in UAV-based communication.

ABSTRACT

Propofol, an intravenous anesthetic agent, exerts an anti-tumor peculiarity in multifarious tumors. Circular RNA hsa_circ_0000735 (circ_0000735) is involved in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) progression. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether propofol can curb NSCLC progression via regulating circ_0000735 expression. Cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion were detected using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine, flow cytometry, and transwell assays. Evaluation of protein levels was performed using western blotting or immunohistochemistry. Detection of circ_0000735 in tissue samples and cells was carried out using a real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. The molecular mechanisms associated with circ_0000735 were predicted by bioinformatics analysis and verified by dual-luciferase reporter assays. The relationship between propofol and circ_0000735 in vivo was verified by xenograft models. The results showed that circ_0000735 was overexpressed in NSCLC samples and cells. Propofol treatment overtly decreased circ_0000735 expression in NSCLC cells and repressed NSCLC cell viability, proliferation, invasion, and facilitated NSCLC cell apoptosis, but these effects mediated by propofol were counteracted by circ_0000735 overexpression. Circ_0000735 functioned as a miR-153-3p sponge and regulated integrin-ß1 (ITGB1) expression via adsorbing miR-153-3p. ITGB1 overexpression reversed circ_0000735 silencing-mediated effects on NSCLC cell viability, proliferation, invasion, and apoptosis. In conclusion, propofol restrained NSCLC growth by downregulating circ_0000735, which functioned as a miR-153-3p sponge and regulated ITGB1 expression via adsorbing miR-153-3p. This study provides evidence to support that propofol curbs NSCLC progression by regulating circRNA expression.

ABSTRACT

Compared with the conventional building, the industrialized building (IB) promotes the sustainable development of the construction industry, which will become a growth trend in the future. Nevertheless, the progress of industrialized building is intimately affected through the scientific evaluating mechanism, which still requires more research. Thus, this study establishes a conceptual framework of industrialized building assessment (IBA), which is validated through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The impact between efficiency and the other five dimensions are studied by the structural equations model (SEM). The findings indicated that the conceptual framework is valid, and the efficiency has a positive impact on economic factors, livability, safety, environmental factors, and social benefits. Consequently, the improvement of efficiency has turned out to be the primary issue for improving the growth of the industrialized building. This research explores the basic framework of industrialized building assessment and provides a basis to establish a comprehensive and precise industrial building evaluation mechanism in the near future.
