We report the case of an 80-year-old woman who presented with general deterioration, fever and low back pain. Diagnostic tests revealed spondylodiscitis with a paravertebral abscess. The main features of this osteoarticular infection, which mainly affects adults over the age of 50 years old, are discussed. Because the symptoms of this process are highly frequent in the elderly, diagnosis can be delayed
