ABSTRACT

Immunotropic properties of the interferon-inducing molecular complex (MC) yeast RNA--tilorone hydrochloride have been under study. MC was experimentally studied in vivo to establish its influence on the amount of antibody-forming cells and the level of antibody formation. The influence of MC on the oxygen-generating activity of spleen macrophages was established in the HCT test. MC in a dose of 1.25 mg/kg was shown to considerably activate immunocompetent cells, thus producing pronounced influence on humoral immunity. In addition, the study showed the dose dependence of the influence of MC on individual elements of the immune system as well as differences in the dynamics of immunomodulation caused by the use of high and low doses of MC. The data thus obtained made it possible to regard MC as a promising immunomodulator.

ABSTRACT

Derangement in freeradical processes (FRP) and lipid metabolism is known to occur in ischemic heart disease. Since autoimmune component appear to play an important role in the pathogenesis of IHD, the contributers to the article studied the state of freeradical processes in IHD patients during development of autosensibilization. A total of 42 patients with unstable angina and 8 essentially healthy subjects were examined. The blood level of FRP, antioxidant protection were determined using chemiluminometry technique. The blood serum content of free cholesterol and phospholipid fatty acid composition were evaluated by gas-liquid chromatography, the T- and B-lymphocyte functional status by fluorescent probing with acridine orange. The level of autoantibodies was determined as recommended by Boiden. The lymphocyte circulating population functional activity was found to be related to the state of FRP, antioxidant protection and the blood serum lipidic complex composition.

ABSTRACT

The nature of antigens in enteropathogenic animal viruses--coronavirus--an agent of transmissive gastroenteritis of pigs (TGE) and pig enterovirus of serotype VI was studied. Basing on the results of the histomorphometric study of the white spleen pulp under the individual introduction of viruses and in combination with the lymphoid chalone it was established that the developing immune response has a thymus-dependent induction mechanism. The pharmacological stimulation of the T-system of animals suffering from virus gastroenteritis provides a positive therapeutic effect. The selective stimulation of the animal T-system may be considered as a promising trend in therapy of intestinal infections and as one of the possible ways to increase the immune response to the antigens of viral vaccines.
