[General principles for scientific reading and writing]. / Principios generales en escritura y lectura científica.

OBJECTIVE: To present an introduction to scientific writing and reading. METHODS/RESULTS: To analyse the most frequently used different formats of scientific-technical documents as reported by UNESCO (1983) including Scientific journals, books, monographs, presentations to congresses, technical reports, yearbooks and bulletins. We describe the main characteristics of each one. CONCLUSIONS: To emphasize the importance of written communication, in its different formats, in health sciences, for health care professionals formation and information.

[Types, structure, and function of scientific articles]. / Tipos, estructura y funciones de los artículos científicos.

OBJECTIVE: To define the importance of the scientific article as a source of original information. METHODS: To describe the fundamental contents of the scientific article and its three different formats: original scientific article, review article and case reports. CONCLUSIONS: The contents and structure of the different documents vary depending on the type of article considered as a result of the goal pursued with its publication.

OBJETIVO: Presentar una introducción a la escritura y lectura científica. MÉTODOS/RESULTADOS: Analizar los diferentes formatos o documentos técnicos-científicos más utilizados según la UNESCO (1983) como son las Revistas Científicas, Libros, Monografías, Ponencias de Congresos, Informes Técnicos, Anuarios y Boletines. Se describen las características fundamentales de cada uno de ellos. CONCLUSIÓN: Destacar la importancia de la comunicación escrita en Ciencias de la Salud, en sus diferentes formatos, para la formación e información de los profesionales sanitarios (AU)

Tipos, estructura y funciones de los artículos científicos / Scientific articles: types, structure and functions

OBJETIVO: Definir la importancia del artículo científico como fuente de información original. MÉTODOS/RESULTADOS: Describir los contenidos fundamentales del artículo científico y los diferentes formatos de presentación que son tres: los artículos científicos originales, los artículos de Revisión y casos clínicos. CONCLUSIÓN: Los contenidos y estructuras de los diversos documentos varían dependiendo del tipo de artículo a considerar en función de la finalidad que se persigue con la publicación del mismo (AU)
