ABSTRACT
The authors describe a Nursing Care Plan for patients requiring intestinal feeding at home as a way to assist at home feeding. Their objective is to unify working norms so that patients will evolve well and avoid suffering from the most common complications which develop due to a poor feeding technique at home. This treatment plan is divided into three phases to guarantee a continuity in nursing care which begins during the period before the insertion of a nasal-gastric tube and lasts until its removal. The theoretical model used is the Daily Self-Care Method which Peplau, Orem and Johnson have worked on. This method has been the one used most extensively in Primary Health Care in Andalucia since the start of the health reform movement. This information was presented in a poster form during the VII Andalucian Conference on Nursing in Primary Health Care which took place in November 2000.
