ABSTRACT

AIM: To analyze features of kidney cancer diagnosis aimed at determination of invasion grade and suitable surgical approach. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was carried out at the clinical bases of Urology Department of the Azerbaijan Medical University. There were 170 patients with kidney cancer for the period 2006-2016 (93 (54.7%) men and 77 (45.3%) women aged 15-82 years (mean 61.7 years)). All patients underwent transabdominal ultrasound, 84 (49.4%) - CT (contrast-enhanced procedure in 63 of them), 23 patients - MRI.

ABSTRACT

Infectious diseases are one of the serious threats to biosafety in modern society In recent years, there have been con- siderably increased international migrations: tourism and pilgrimage; labor migration flows; migration of refugees and settlers in times of armed conflicts, household migrations because of family ties and traditions. Since the number of Rus- sian tourists and migrants from endemic countries remains high, these contingents should receive special attention in the malaria epidemiological surveillance system. The paper discusses the risks of possible consequences of population migra- tions and prevention measures.

ABSTRACT

The Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016-2030, which was approved by the World Health Assembly in 2015, over the next 15 years suggests that the number of patients with malaria will decline by 90%, that it will be eliminated in 35 countries where this infection remained endemic in 2015, and that the resurgence of malaria will be prevented in the previously eliminated areas. Taking into account the existing features of antimalarial programs in the endemic countries at both national and subnational levels, this strategy can and must serve as a basis for the development and formulation of really implementable national malaria control and elimination programs.

ABSTRACT

The paper presents the scientific studies of malaria pathogens and vectors, which have been specially conducted in the endemic areas of the CIS countries and Georgia for use in an epidemiological surveillance system. The main ones investigate the structure of malaria foci and the level of G-6-PD deficiency among residents, determine the malariogenic potential. of the territory and the risk of infection in the population, and specify the taxonomy, systematics, and spread of major malaria vectors in .the countries ofWHO European Region. In addition, the time and magnitude of manifestations of long-term post-incubation tertian malaria were established; th6 susceptibility of P.vivax to antimalarials and the levels of resistance and irritability of malaria vectors to insecticides were studied. The experience in using a geographic information system for the epidemiological surveillance of malaria is given.

ABSTRACT

The experience of treating 61 patients over the rumen of stenosis of the trachea was summarizes. To improve the results suggested inclusion complex diprospan treatment in combination with low intensity infrared laser radiation. The advantages of the proposed method of treatment of tracheal stenosis scarring are reduced severity of chronic inflammation, reducing the proliferation of granulation tissue.

ABSTRACT

Comparative analysis of the treatment results in 120 patients, suffering destructive form of biliary calculous disease (DFBCD) was performed. Depending on operative access and postoperative conservative therapy applied the patients were divided into two groups. In the main group in 58 patients, suffering DFBCD, a minilaparotomy access was applied, using "mini-assistant" apparatus named after M. I. Prudkov and postoperatively--low-intensive laser irradiation and regional lymphotropic therapy. In a comparison group in 62 patients various laparotomic accesses were used, and a standard postoperative therapy was performed. Normalization of clinical, laboratory and immune indices in the main group were observed in twice earlier than in a control one, and economical together with moral-psychological effect was measured in reduction of the medicines quantity used as well as the patients stationary stay.

ABSTRACT

The study is based on the examination of 12 patients with perforative duodenal ulcer and 24 patients operated on recurrent bleeding duodenal ulcer. Some component of the immune system, such as T- and B-lymphocytes rates, immunoglobulin rate and macrophagal activity, were decreased prior the beginning of the complex treatment. Normalisation of humoral and cell immunity was registered on 10-12 days after the beginning of the ozone and low-intensive laser irradiation.

ABSTRACT

Molecular genetic analysis of malaria vectors in the Republic of Azerbaijan has identified three species of malaria mosquitoes of the Anopheles maculipennis complex: An. maculipennis, An. sacharovi, and An. persiensis. An. melanoon has not been found. An. sacharovi has been ascertained to predominate in the low-lying areas of the country. An. maculipennis prevails in the north, on the foothills of the Great Caucasus and it is also observed in the south, on the Talysh foothills and mountains. An. persiensis has been first recorded for the malaria mosquito fauna in the CNS. This species has been detected only in the south of the republic (Lenkoran and Astar districts).

ABSTRACT

Results of laser-infrared irradiation (LIRI) of postoperative wound after surgical treatment of recurrent hernias of anterior abdominal wall were analyzed. LIRI decreased number of local complications in early postoperative period in patients both with recurrent and primary hernias. The method was more effective for the treatment of local complication in patients with recurrent hernia that is confirmed by reduced of frequency of infiltrates, seromas and suppurations.

ABSTRACT

An investigation on distribution of horseradish peroxidase (HP) product in the sciatic nerve membranes of albino rats, after HP intravenous injection, has been performed. Getting into the interstitial space of epineurium across the microvessel walls, HP spreads as far as the internal layer of the perineural membrane, forming a distinct gradient of concentration of protein at its border. In 60 min after injection of the tracer the value of the perineural-endoneural gradient for proteins is about 70-80% of the value of the plasma-endoneural gradient. A possible mechanism of the endoneural fluid evacuation, connected with various values of protein concentration in the endoneural space and within the nerve perineural membrane is discussed.

ABSTRACT

By means of macro-microscopical preparation methods, horseradish peroxidase injection, semithin sections, electron microscopy histotopography and composition of microvessels of the sciatic nerve have been studied in 20 mature male white rats. The perineural membrane has been stated to have no its own vascular network. In composition of the sciatic nerve and its large branches muscular venules are revealed; they run longitudinally along the whole length of the endoneural space and are tributaries of the epineural veins. A suggestion is made that presence of the contractile apparatus in the venular wall can play an important role in formation of the postcapillary resistance, regulating the hydrostatic pressure value in the lumen of endoneural capillaries ad intensity of liquor filtration into the interstitial space.
