ABSTRACT

A synopsis of the Iranian Ciidae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionoidea) is proposed. Based upon a literature review and new data, a total of 23 species within seven genera (all under the subfamily Ciinae) are given for the fauna of Iran. Cis micans (Fabricius, 1792) is new record for the fauna of Iran, and also Octotemnus rugosopunctatus Drogvalenko, 2002 is new for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia. Two species, Cis multidentatus (Pic, 1917) and Cis villosulus (Marsham, 1802) are excluded from the fauna of Iran.

ABSTRACT

We herein provide an annotated checklist for the Iranian Dasytidae and Rhadalidae (Coleoptera: Cleroidea). A total of 54 species and three subspecies of Dasytidae in 16 genera, four tribes and three subfamilies, and 11 species of Rhadalidae in five genera and three subfamilies are reported and discussed where necessary. Of these, 27 (sub-) species of Dasytidae (48%) and eight species of Rhadalidae (73%) are currently known only from Iran, and are here considered as endemic species. However, some species occurences are doubtful or need confirmation. One species (Dasytes xanthocnemus Kolenati, 1846) is reported from Iran for the first time. Furthermore, Danacea micans astrabadensis Pic, 1922 is resurrected from synonymy and given subspecific status.

ABSTRACT

The fauna of Iranian Anthicidae and pediline Pyrochroidae (Coleoptera) is summarized in this paper. A total of 132 species from 19 genera and four subfamilies (Anthicinae, Notoxinae, Steropinae, and Tomoderinae) of Anthicidae and two species of Pedilinae are listed. Three new synonyms are proposed: Anthicus armatus Truqui, 1855 = A. pseudoarmatus Telnov, 2008 syn. nov., Notoxus hirtus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849 = N. caucasicus Pic, 1900 syn. nov., Stricticomus rufithorax (LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849) = Anthicus transcaspicus var. subnotata Pic, 1910 syn. nov. One new combination is made: Nitorus unifasciatus (Desbrochers des Loges, 1875) comb. nov. (from Pseudoleptaleus Pic, 1900). Thirteen species are reported for the fauna of Iran for the first time: Anthicus armatus Truqui, 1855, A. episcopalis Pic, 1903, A. quadrispilus Marseul, 1879, Cyclodinus reitteri (Pic, 1892), Leptaleus klugii klugii LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849, Stricticomus araxicola (Reitter, 1889), S. arcuaticeps (Pic, 1900), S. herzi (Pic, 1905), Microhoria aphaenops (Pic, 1902), Tenuicomus finalis Telnov, 2003, Notoxus hirtus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849, N. simulans simulans Heberdey, 1935, and Tomoderus scydmaenoides Reitter, 1878.

ABSTRACT

The present paper is a collection of data and records taken from literature on the Cantharidae of Iran. New original records are also included. These data indicate that 12 genera and 84 species and subspecies of Cantharidae have been recorded from Iran. Fifteen of these species-level records require further data to confirm. Synonymies and distributional information, both general and local, are provided. Two genera: Macrocerus and Themus, and three species: Cordicantharis cordicollis (Küster, 1854), Themus glazunovi glazunovi (Barovskij, 1909) and Macrocerus oculatus Motschulsky, 1845, are reported as new country records for Iran.

ABSTRACT

Species diversity of Iranian Cleridae (Coleoptera: Cleroidea) is summarized in this paper. A total of 48 species and 1 subspecies in 14 genera belonging to 4 subfamilies of Cleridae are recorded. Eight species, Thaneroclerus buqueti (Lefebvre, 1835), Denops albofasciatus (Charpentier, 1825), Flabellotilloidea palaestina (Pic, 1900), Clerus mutillaroides Reitter, 1894, Opilo cilicicus Hintz, 1902, Opilo longipilis Fairmaire, 1892, Trichodes alberi Escherich, 1894 and Trichodes inermis Reitter, 1894 are recorded from Iran for the first time. Synonymies and distribution data are given. The checklist is based on examination of the literature and also includes records from specimens examined in many collections. Taxa are arranged hierarchically under the categories of subfamily, genus, species and subspecies.

ABSTRACT

We provide an annotated checklist of species of bark and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae: Platypodinae and Scolytinae) recorded from Iran, with information on distribution, host trees, biology and taxonomy. Two species of Platypodinae and 79 species of Scolytinae are recorded. Hypothenemus crudiae (Panzer, 1791), Scolytus koenigi Schevyrew, 1890 and Xyleborus monographus Fabricius, 1792 are recorded for the first time from Iran. Previous records of three further species are considered dubious and require confirmation.

ABSTRACT

The Iranian species diversity of five braconid subfamilies, Euphorinae (54 species in 16 genera and 8 tribes), Gnamptodontinae (4 species in 1 genus and 1 tribe), Helconinae (9 species in 5 genera and 2 tribes), Hormiinae (8 species in 4 genera and 2 tribe) and Rhysipolinae (3 species in 2 genera) are summarized in this catalogue. A faunistic list is given comprising both local and global distribution of each species under study as well as host records. In the present study ten new records are added to the Iranian fauna: Centistes (Ancylocentrus) ater (Nees), Centistes cuspidatus (Haliday), Meteorus affinis (Wesmael), Meteorus rufus (DeGeer), Microctonus brevicollis (Haliday), Microctonus falciger Ruthe, Peristenus nitidus (Curtis) (Euphorinae), Aspicolpus carinator (Nees), Diospilus capito (Nees) and Diospilus productus Marshall (Helconinae s.l.). Euphorus pseudomitis Hedwig, 1957 is transferred to the subfamily Hormiinae and Hormisca pseudomitis (Hedwig, 1957) is a new combination.
