ABSTRACT

This paper reports a case of malignant liver hemangiopericytoma broken after an abdominal traumatism which revealed that the patient has this disease. This case is interesting because the abdominal traumatism gave us the opportunity of making a precocious diagnosis. The clinical and paraclinical signs of acute abdomen fastened surgery. The paper reviews the medical literature linked to these rare tumors. The paper also describes morphological features typical for these vascular tumors, whose evolution is unpredictable.

ABSTRACT

The study analyzes a statistical series of 45 patients suffering from large abdominal wall defects and who were managed by plastic surgery with "Plastex" type synthetic mesh, in the period 1 Jan. 1995-1 Apr. 1998. One of the treatment's basic principles is the preserving of the peritoneal pouch from the hernia sac, which must be fixed on the internal side of the synthetic material that replaces the musculoaponeurotic defect. The authors emphasize the low incidence of complications and the absence of recurrences when they used the "Plastex" type synthetic mesh, very well tolerated by the surrounding tissues. For all these reasons, the authors warmly recommend it for plastic surgery in all incisional hernias, because their coming out shows the poor quality of the local musculoaponeurotic material.

ABSTRACT

In this work we analyse 23 clinical observations on operated cholecystopathies, with intestinal mucosa metaplasia and we present a study hypothesis that remains to be further verified. The clinical cases have been selected out of out of 1263 cholecystopathies carried out within our department between 1987-1993. Most of the patients were females aged of 30-50 years old and were not known to have gallbladder malformations or biliary lithiasis. The authors are in favour of surgical cure at these patients, only when the well-lead medical cure has failed to give positive results, as a final solution. The histopathological examination of the samples indicating intestinal mucosa metaplasia zones of the gallbladder is the only paraclinical findings that shows useful evidence and confirms the opportunity of the surgical solution in these patients.

ABSTRACT

Acute appendicitis with fixation of the appendix tip to the various parenchymatous viscera, such as the liver, the kidney, the ovary, etc., is rather frequent Fixation of the apical are of the appendix to cavitary organs, and development of fistulae is however rare. A case is presented, of an appendiculo-colic fistula that developed as a result of previous inflammatory processes. Such a case has not been presented before in the literature investigated by the author. The surgical solution consisted in appendicectomy with bipolar closure of the two appendicular stumps.
