ABSTRACT

In the present work a novel pyrazole based chitosan Schiff base material was prepared using 5-azido-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde and functionalized using Fe3O4-MoS2, where the nanoparticles get embedded within the gel matrix. The composite material was characterized using various techniques such as XRD, SEM, FTIR, EDS and TGA. The adsorbent material was analysed for the adsorptive take up process from the aqueous solutions of metal ion concentration ranging 20-100 mgL-1. The maximum adsorption capacity obtained for the material was 200.00 and 125.00 mg/g for Cr(VI) and Cu(II) respectively. Adsorptive mechanism was found to have pseudo second order kinetics and the adsorption isotherm followed Langmuir adsorption model following the monolayer adsorptive process. Further the evaluated thermodynamic parameter showed the adsorption process to be spontaneous and endothermic in nature. Reusability of the composite material was achieved using suitable stripping solutions.

ABSTRACT

The rise of drug-resistance has made the deserted clinical requirement to improve of new classes of antibiotics agents. The development of antibacterial agents with the novel method of activity stays a high need worldwide. The treatment of bacterial infections remains a test in light of developing irresistible sicknesses and the expanding number of multidrug-resistance microbial pathogens. Therefore, there is a need for powerful activities to think of new successful therapeutic agents, and it is dire to find novel synthetic analogs against bacterial targets. The improvements of new, less harmful, minimum side-effort, and extremely dynamic sulfonyl or sulfonamide-bearing analogs are hot research topics in medicinal chemistry. This present review summarizes the current innovations of sulfonyl or sulfonamide-based derivatives with potential antibacterial activities against various Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains and discussing its various aspects of structure-activity relationship (SAR).

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Millions of women worldwide undergo postpartum perineal repair under local infiltration. Inadequate postpartum pain management can negatively impact a mother's physical and psychological recovery. AIMS: To study and compare the analgesic effect and maternal satisfaction with lignocaine versus ropivacaine infiltration for postpartum perineal pain relief. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After clearance from the Institutional Ethics Committee, a double-blind prospective randomized study carried out on 100 parturients of aged 18-40 years who had spontaneous vaginal delivery, comparing 1% lignocaine and 0.75% ropivacaine infiltration for the repair of selective episiotomy or perineal injury. Time of the first analgesic (TFA) demand, maternal satisfaction at 24 h, and visual analog scale (VAS) pain score were studied. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: Chi-square test and Student's t-test were used and P < 0.05 was considered as significant. RESULTS: VAS pain score was significantly lower at 2 and 4 h in ropivacaine group versus lignocaine group (P < 0.0001). Significantly, longer TFA (10.2 ± 1.54 vs. 2.20 ± 0.44 h, P < 0.0001) and higher percentage of maternal satisfaction (86% vs. 44%) were observed in ropivacaine as compared to lignocaine group (P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: Prolonged analgesia and higher rate of maternal satisfaction were found when ropivacaine infiltration was used for perineal repair as compared to lignocaine.
