ABSTRACT

Sleep disorders, a common concern in modern society, seriously affect people's physical and mental health. Reported findings suggest that both acute exercise intervention and long-term regular exercise intervention can improve the disrupted sleep structure and normalize the duration and proportion of the different phases of sleep. Moreover, exercise intervention has a positive effect on the endocrine functions, the metabolic functions, the immune response, the autonomic nervous system, and cardiac functions during sleep. It is a non-medicative therapeutic strategy for improving sleep disorders. The specific type of exercise intervention (aerobic exercise, resistance exercise, or meditative movement) adopted is one of the moderating variables of exercise intervention programs. Different types of exercise improve sleep disorders by way of different mechanisms. Exercise volume and intensity are another moderating variable of exercise intervention programs. The optimal amount and intensity of exercise for different individuals to improve sleep disorders may vary. Exercise interventions implemented at the different times throughout a day can also have varying degrees of impact on sleep disorders and there is no consensus on the optimal exercise time for improving sleep quality at present. Herein, we summarized the mechanisms by which exercise intervention improves sleep disorders from four perspectives, including epigenetics, hyperarousal, human circadian rhythm, and body temperature regulation. In addition, we discussed the current gaps and prospects of research in this field, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the development of exercise prescriptions for sleep disorders.

ABSTRACT

The high activity of water molecules results in a series of awful parasitic reaction, which seriously impede the development of aqueous zinc batteries. Herein, a new gel electrolyte with multiple molecular anchors is designed by employing natural biomaterials from chitosan and chlorophyll derivative. The gel electrolyte firmly anchors water molecules by ternary hydrogen bonding to reduce the activity of water molecules and inhibit hydrogen evolution reaction. Meanwhile, the multipolar charged functional groups realize the gradient induction and redistribution of Zn2+ , which drives oriented Zn (002) plane deposition of Zn2+ and then achieves uniform Zn deposition and dendrite-free anode. As a result, it endows the Zn||Zn cell with over 1700 h stripping/plating processes and a high efficiency of 99.4% for the Zn||Cu cell. In addition, the Zn||V2 O5 full cells also exhibit capacity retention of 81.7% after 600 cycles at 0.5 A g-1 and excellent long-term stability over 1600 cycles at 2 A g-1 , and the flexible pouch cells can provide stable power for light-emitting diodes even after repeated bending. The gel electrolyte strategy provides a reference for reversible zinc anode and flexible wearable devices.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: Dentition defect including edentulism is a problem that deserves attention, which requires precise preoperative planning. The trajectories of the implants can be determined using a pre-made radiographic template, which is adopted for prosthesis-driven oral implantology. However, existing solutions for the registration between the radiographic template and the patient's CBCT still require manual operation and cause inadequate accuracy. In this study, a pre-operative planning system for prosthesis-driven oral implantology is developed with a novel automated registration method. METHODS: Based on threshold segmentation and morphological feature filtering, the potential feature points on two sets of CBCTs are, respectively, recognized. The distance features of the point sets are used to predict the optimal solution for point pair matching, after which the automated registration is implemented. The prosthesis-driven planning can be completed according to the results of registration and multi-planar reconstruction. Then, the surgical templates can be designed and fabricated using 3D printing technology based on the planning results and finally used for intra-operative guidance during implant placement. RESULTS: Verification of the proposed method was conducted on three clinical cases. The mean Fiducial Registration Error of 0.13 ± 0.01mm was achieved with great efficiency. The average time was 0.15 s for the automatic registration algorithm, and 15.64 s for the whole procedure. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed method proved to be accurate and robust. The results indicate that it can achieve higher efficiency while maintaining a low error level, which will have great potential clinical applications in the future.

ABSTRACT

The organic electrolyte can resolve the hurdle of hydrogen evolution in aqueous electrolytes but suffers from sluggish electrochemical reaction kinetics due to a compromised mass transfer process. Herein, we introduce a chlorophyll, zinc methyl 3-devinyl-3-hydroxymethyl-pyropheophorbide-a (Chl), as a multifunctional electrolyte additive for aprotic zinc batteries to address the related dynamic problems in organic electrolyte systems. The Chl exhibits multisite zincophilicity, which significantly reduces the nucleation potential, increases the nucleation sites, and induces uniform nucleation of Zn metal with a nucleation overpotential close to zero. Furthermore, the lower LUMO of Chl contributes to a Zn-N-bond-containing SEI layer and inhibits the decomposition of the electrolyte. Therefore, the electrolyte enables repeated zinc stripping/plating up to 2000 h (2 Ah cm-2 cumulative capacity) with an overpotential of only 32 mV and a high Coulomb efficiency of 99.4%. This work is expected to enlighten the practical application of organic electrolyte systems.

ABSTRACT

To systematically review the effects of Tai chi on sleep quality, depression, and anxiety in patients with insomnia. The electronic databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang Data, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (VIP) were retrieved and screened by computer. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) on patients with insomnia who practiced Tai chi were collected, and the RCT risk of bias assessment criteria was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies. The combined effect size was expressed as the weighted mean difference (WMD), with a confidence interval of 95% (CI). Review Manager 5.4 and Stata16.0 were used for heterogeneity analysis and sensitivity analysis. Tai chi reduced the patients' Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) score (WMD = -1.75, 95% CI: -1.88, -1.62, p < 0.001); Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) score (WMD = -5.08, 95% CI: -5.46, -4.69, p < 0.001), Hamilton anxiety scale (HAMA) score (WMD = -2.18, 95% CI: -2.98, -1.37, p < 0.001), and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) score (WMD = -7.01, 95% CI: -7.72, -6.29, p < 0.001). Tai chi exercise has a good preventive and ameliorating effect on insomnia, which can relieve patients' depression and anxiety, simultaneously enhancing various functions of the body. However, most of the included studies reported random assignment with some lack of specific descriptions, and the blinding of participants was difficult to achieve due to the nature of exercise, which may cause bias. Therefore, more high-quality, multi-center, and bigger-sample studies need to be included in the future to further verify the results.

ABSTRACT

How to create an efficient and accurate interactive tool for triangular mesh clipping is one of the key problems to be solved in computer-assisted surgical planning. Although the existing algorithms can realize three-dimensional model clipping, problems still remain unsolved regarding the flexibility of clipping paths and the capping of clipped cross-sections. In this study, we propose a mesh clipping algorithm for surgical planning based on polygonal convex partitioning. Firstly, two-dimensional polygonal regions are extended to three-dimensional clipping paths generated from selected reference points. Secondly, the convex regions are partitioned with a recursive algorithm to obtain the clipped and residual models with closed surfaces. Finally, surgical planning software with the function of mesh clipping has been developed, which is capable to create complex clipping paths by normal vector adjustment and thickness control. The robustness and efficiency of our algorithm have been demonstrated by surgical planning of craniomaxillofacial osteotomy, pelvis tumor resection and cranial vault remodeling.

Objective@#To explore the improvement influence of three combined exercise programs on sleep quality among college students with sleep disorders, so as to provide reference for the construction of exercise intervention programs for sleep disorder.@*Methods@#A total of 35 college students with sleep disorders were randomly divided into AR group ( n =10), AM group ( n =8), RM group ( n =9) and CG group ( n =8). The three exercise groups were provided with exercise intervention for 8 weeks, 3 times/week , 60 min/time, and the CG group maintained previous lifestyle.Before and after the intervention,evaluation of subjective sleep quality and reduction rate of sleep disorder by PSQI, and Actigraph GT3X+ was used to monitor the changes in the objective sleep quality.@*Results@#After the intervention,the total score of PSQI ( t =3.49, 2.31, 2.73), sleep quality score ( t =2.71, 3.00 , 5.29),sleep duration of AR group ( t =2.74), daytime dysfunction of AM group ( t =2.64) and sleep duration of RM group ( t = 2.29) significantly decreased ( P <0.05); The scores of sleep duration in AM group were significantly lower than those in AR group, and the scores of PSQI,sleep quality and daytime dysfunction in AM group were significantly lower than those in CG group (P<0.05). After intervention,TST ( t =-4.41, -8.37, -6.79) and SE ( t =-4.40, -5.86, -4.91) of AR group, AM group and RM group significantly increased( P <0.05), SOL ( t =4.18, 9.93), WASO ( t =2.91, 3.46) and NA ( t =4.80, 3.37) of AM group and RM group significantly decreased ( P <0.05). The changes of TST,SE and WASO in RM group were significantly higher than those in CG group, and SOL was significantly lower than those in CG group ( P <0.05).@*Conclusion@#The three kinds of combined exercise programs can improve the subjective and objective sleep quality of college students with sleep disorders, and reduce the incidence of sleep disorders; different combined exercise programs have different influence on the improvement of sleep quality of college students with sleep disorders, aerobic combined meditative movement exercise program has a prominent influence on the improvement of subjective sleep quality, and resistance combined meditative movement exercise program has a prominent influence on the improvement of objective sleep quality.

ABSTRACT

We experimentally demonstrate wavelength broadcast based on simultaneous Type I quasi-phase-matched (QPM) broadband sum-frequency generation (SFG) and second-harmonic generation (SHG) in 5 mol.% MgO-doped periodically poled lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN). One signal has been synchronously converted into seven different wavelengths using two pumps at a 1.5 microm band via quadratic cascaded nonlinear wavelength conversion. By selecting different pump regions, i.e., selecting different cascaded chi((2)):chi((2)) interactions, the flexible wavelength conversions with shifting from one signal to single, double, and triple channels were also demonstrated.
