ABSTRACT
Two techniques are described, using different concentrations of fentanyl. The first one uses 0,5 mg of fentanyl and 500 mg of methohexitone in 500 ml of a dextrose or saline solution. The second one uses 1 mg of fentanyl and 500 mg of methohexitone in the same 500 ml solution. The whole study took place in bone surgery, with well-prepared and non-stressed patients. The induction and maintenance doses are discussed. The authors emphasize the simplicity of this method; they discuss the advantages and the disadvantages of this easy method of anesthesia in bone surgery, and advise against its use in non-prepared patients.
