ABSTRACT

The results of examination and treatment of 216 patients with acute intestinal obstruction of benign genesis are discussed. The values of blood plasma toxicity and the values of hemostasis determined before and after the operation were compared. Intoxication of patients was found to increase in the postoperative period. Its increase was appraised according to the duration of the disease. The causes of mortality were analysed and the risk factors of intoxication increase in the postoperative period were revealed. The authors suggest a classification of the phases of intoxication in patients with acute intestinal obstruction on the basis of the degree of intoxication and the condition of homeostasis.

ABSTRACT

An experience with the treatment of 199 patients with different forms of peritonitis enabled the authors to recommend to include the moving-blood ultraviolet irradiation in the complex therapy followed by hemosorption. It reduced lethality two times.

ABSTRACT

The fibrin-stabilizing factor (XIII factor of the hemostasis system) was studied in 101 patients with unresolved mechanical jaundice. It was first shown that this disease is characterized by a statistically significant decrease of the FSF to 56-68%. The decrease of the XIII factor is prognostically unfavourable and points to the development of hepatic insufficiency. The experience has shown that in critical patients with the content of FSF lower than 30% it is expedient to perform decompressive procedures such as cholecystostomy, percutaneous transhepatic cholangiostomy, endoscopic papillotomy etc. as well as transfusion of fresh frozen plasma and hemosorption if there is no contraindications. In patients with FSF lower than 50% before operation it is sufficient to perform hemosorption and transfusion of fresh frozen plasma.

ABSTRACT

Procedures for removal of 5-fluorouracil from biological fluids by means of ADB-13 ty uncoated activated carbon were studied in vivo and in vitro. Dynamic stand trials showed a high sorptive capacity of carbon which appeared to depend on the rate and duration of perfusion. A 40 min passage through a carbon column at the perfusion rate of 100 ml/min was followed by a 584-fold decrease of the drug concentration. The pharmacodynamics of 5-fluorouracil was studied in dogs. The agent was injected intraperitoneally. The maximal hemosorptive effect was registered after the injection of lethal doses of 100 mg/kg. When therapeutic doses of 30 mg/kg were given hemosorption resulted in increased blood levels of the freely circulating drug.

ABSTRACT

The article presents results of the treatment of children with pyo-septic diseases by method of hemosorption and lymphosorption. The experience with 86 hemosorptions and 3 lymphosorptions in 33 patients is generalized. Analysis of results of the treatment of pyo-septic conditions by extracorporal method of detoxication enabled the correlation of the effect with the course of the disease, age of the patient and the pathogenic agent of the purulent process to be detected.

ABSTRACT

A comparative study of adsorbents with respect to their capability to absorb low- and medium-molecular metabolites was effected. The adsorbents displaying high activity in regard to low-molecular metabolites are shown to be insufficiently effective with respect to the medium-molecular ones and vice versa. The results thus obtained bear proof to the advisability of a preliminary selection of adsorbents for clinical application in hemocorption according to their activity as concerns low- and medium-molecular substances.
