ABSTRACT
A study was made of myocardial contractility, of the central and peripheral hemodynamics in infants with acute respiratory viral infections. Stable disorders of the phasic structure of contraction and relaxation of the left and right ventricles of the heart combined with an appreciable rise of the pressure in the pulmonary artery were disclosed. It has been found necessary to administer both remedies improving myocardial metabolism and cardiotonic drugs. The high pressure persisting in the pulmonary artery which resulted in heart fatigue in the neonates with acute respiratory viral infections bears witness to inadequacy of the euphylline dosage used.
