ABSTRACT

Overall, sixty-seven patients living in different ecological regions were examined to study effects of ecological factors on the catecholamine concentration in biological fluids in patients with chronic posttraumatic osteomyelitis (CPO). The data obtained showed that CPO causes abnormalities of catecholamine metabolism, which get even more aggravated under the influence of an adverse ecological factor, an abnormal radiation impact in particular, this being confirmed by analysis of findings in those patients residing in different ecological regions.

ABSTRACT

The author cites the nearest and remote (up to 13 years) results of treatment of 152 patients with posttraumatic osteomyelitis of the bones of crus and femur. On the basis of analysis of clinical data there are recommended the terms (3-6 months) of radical-restorative operations in patients with osteomyelitis and is drawn attention to the considerable frequency of the joint contractures.

ABSTRACT

The work presents results of free bone autoplasty in 312 patients with chronic osteomyelitis of long bones. Complications were observed in 26.9% of the patients in the postoperative period. With regard for reoperations performed in patients with a complicated course of the disease, sanitation of pyonecrotic foci was achieved in 94.4% of the observations. Labour rehabilitation after operations of bone plasty was obtained in 65% of the patients.
