ABSTRACT

Qiliqiangxin (QL) can attenuate myocardial remodeling and improve cardiac function in some cardiac diseases, including heart failure and hypertension. This study was to explore the effects and mechanism of QL on atrial structural remodeling in atrial fibrillation (AF). Twenty-one rabbits were randomly divided into a sham-operation group, pacing group (pacing with 600 beats per minute for 4 weeks), and treatment group (2.5 g/kg/day). Before pacing, the rabbits received QL-administered p.o. for 1 week. We measured atrial electrophysiological parameters in all groups to evaluate AF inducibility and the atrial effective refractory period (AERP). Echocardiography evaluated cardiac function and structure. TUNEL detection, hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining, and Masson's trichrome staining were performed. Immunohistochemistry and western blotting (WB) were used to detect alterations in calcium channel L-type dihydropyridine receptor α2 subunit (DHPR) and fibrosis-related regulatory factors. AF inducibility was markedly decreased after QL treatment. Furthermore, we found that AERP and DHPR were reduced significantly in pacing rabbits compared with sham rabbits; treatment with QL increased DHPR and AERP compared to the pacing group. The QL group showed significantly decreased mast cell density and improved atrial ejection fraction values compared with the pacing group. Moreover, QL decreased interventricular septum thickness (IVSd) and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD). Compared with the sham group, the levels of TGFß1 and P-smad2/3 were significantly upregulated in the pacing group. QL reduced TGF-ß1 and P-smad2/3 levels and downstream fibrosis-related factors. Our study demonstrated that QL treatment attenuates atrial structural remodeling potentially by inhibiting TGF-ß1/P-smad2/3 signaling pathway.

ABSTRACT

Velpatasvir is a new generation of NS5A inhibitors, and combined with marketed sofosbuvir, compound tablets Epclusa was obtained and approved by FDA in June, 2016, which is used for the treatment of adult patients infected with chronic hepatitis C vi-rus ( HCV) with all genotypes. The mechanism of action, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, clinical trials and safety of Epclusa were reviewed in this article.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To understand the Escherichia coli O157:H7 carrier rate of host animals and the toxic gene of the strains in different areas in Jiangsu province.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Surveillance spots were set up in different areas, to collect feces of pigs, chickens, sheep, cattle to culture for O157:H7 with immunomagnetic separation as well as detection of toxic gene of the strain with MPCR were both carried out.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>One hundred and seventy strains of O157:H7 were separated from 1 767 feces of different animals in six spots, with a overall positive rate 9.62%. The positive rates of cattle and sheep were 19.05% and 12.01% respectively. Among 85 strains SLT1, SLT2, eaeA and hly toxic genes were detected. In which, 56.47% of the strains were positive curturely while 79.17% of them carried SLT2, eaeA and hly gene simultaneously.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The positive rate of O157:H7 in animals and the positive rates of strains were correlated to the incidence of the area. The highest rates were seen in areas where there had been O157:H7 epidemic, followed by the areas where there were only scattered cases identified while the lowest was in areas with no patients. Data indicated that it was important to enforce the surveillance of O157:H7 in animals to better predict and control of the disease.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To develop a comprehensive integrated POCT system. Methods To meet the requirement of medical relief operation under the circumstances of field operations and Military Operations Other Than War,several dry chemical inspection instruments were selected, integrated and informatized. Then,a portable platform, being easy to deploy, undeploy, store and transport, came into being, which was gifted with the functions for regular rapid laboratory test in filed operation. Results The POCT system's net weight was about 80Kg,and the deployment/un-deployment time was 3 minutes. The tests could be finished in 5minutes.Conclusion The system has reached the goal of rapid response and on -site application, which will greatly enhance the work efficiency of clinical laboratory under the circumstances of field operations.
