ABSTRACT

AIMS: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of self-management behaviour and illness perceptions and to examine illness perceptions in relation to self-management behaviour in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 152 elderly COPD patients were recruited via the convenience sampling method. The COPD Self-Management Scale and the Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire for COPD patients were used to examine self-management behaviour and illness perceptions. Pearson correlation analysis, univariate analysis and hierarchical linear regression analysis were used to explore illness perceptions in relation to self-management behaviour. RESULTS: The mean overall score for self-management behaviour was 2.90 ± 0.39. Among the subscales of self-management behaviour, information management had the lowest score of 2.20 ± 0.76. Patients' demographic and clinical characteristics, including educational level, smoking status, type of primary caregiver, home oxygen therapy and COPD duration, were found to be significant determinants of self-management behaviour. After controlling for these variables, several illness perception subscales, including treatment control, personal control, coherence, timeline cyclical and identity, were significantly correlated with self-management behaviour. CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed that elderly COPD patients' self-management behaviour was unsatisfactory and that illness perceptions were significant determinants of self-management behaviour. The findings may contribute to the development of self-management interventions for elderly COPD patients.

ABSTRACT

Chronic arsenic exposure is considered to increase the risk of breast cancer. p62 is a multifunctional adaptor protein that controls myriad cellular processes and is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues. Although previous studies have indicated the involvement of p62 accumulation in arsenic tumorigenesis, the underlying mechanism remains obscure. Here, we found that 0.1 µM or 0.5 µM arsenite exposure for 24 weeks induced oncogenic phenotypes in human mammary epithelial cells. Elevated aerobic glycolysis, cell proliferation capacity, and activation of p62-mTOR pathway, as indicated by increased protein levels of p62, phosphorylated-mTOR (p-mTOR) and hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF1α), were observed in chronically arsenite-exposed cells, and of note in advance of the onset of oncogenic phenotypes. Moreover, p62 silencing inhibited acquisition of oncogenic phenotypes in arsenite-exposed cells. The protein levels of p-mTOR and HIF1α, as well as aerobic glycolysis and cell proliferation, were suppressed by p62 knockdown. In addition, re-activation of p­mTOR reversed the inhibitory effects of p62 knockdown. Collectively, our data suggest that p62 exerts an oncogenic role via mTORC1 activation and acts as a key player in glucose metabolism during arsenite-induced malignant transformation, which provides a new mechanistic clue for the arsenite carcinogenesis.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer (GC) is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate, and thus, it is necessary to explore molecular mechanisms underlying its progression. While replication factor C subunit 3 (RFC3) has been demonstrated to function as an oncogene in many cancers, its role in GC remains unclear. METHODS: Tumor tissues were collected from clinical GC patients, and the expression of RFC3 was analyzed. NCI-N87 and HGC-27 cells were infected with lentivirus sh-RFC3 to knock down RFC3 expression. RFC3 expression levels were determined, in addition to cell biological behaviors both in vitro and in vivo. The relationship between RFC3 and the YAP1/TEAD signaling pathway was detected by dual luciferase reporter assay. RESULTS: RFC3 was upregulated in GC tumor tissues. RFC3 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation, promoted cell apoptosis of GC cells, and suppressed cell migration and invasion. Moreover, depleted RFC3 suppressed tumor growth and metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, the YAP1/TEAD axis activated RFC3 expression transcriptionally by binding to the RFC3 promoter. CONCLUSIONS: RFC3 was transcriptional activated by the YAP1/TEAD signaling pathway, thus promoting GC progression. RFC3 may be a promising therapeutic target for GC.

ABSTRACT

A large global health issue is cancer, wherein early diagnosis and treatment have proven to be life-saving. This holds true for oral cancer, thus emphasizing the significance of timely intervention. Deep learning techniques have gained traction in early cancer detection, exhibiting promising outcomes in accurate diagnosis. However, collecting a substantial amount of training data poses a challenge for deep learning models in cancer diagnosis. To address this limitation, this study proposes an oral cancer diagnosis approach based on a few-shot learning framework that circumvents the need for extensive training data. Specifically, a prototypical network is employed to construct a diagnostic model, wherein two feature extractors are utilized to extract prototypical features and query features respectively, departing from the conventional use of a single feature extraction function in prototypical networks. Moreover, a customized loss function is designed for the proposed method. Rigorous experimentation using a histopathological image dataset demonstrates the superior performance of our proposed approach over comparison methods.

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Ovarian tumor protein superfamily serves a crucial role in tumor growth progression, among them, ovarian tumor domain-containing 7B (OTUD7B) as a deubiquitinase (DUB) is frequently found in various cancers, but the role of OTUD7B in GC is poorly understood. AIMS: To clarify the effect of OTUD7B on GC progression. METHODS: Functional experiments were performed to detect the proliferation, migration and invasion of GC cells. Xenografts were used to measure the effects in vivo. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) and ubiquitination assays showed the interaction of OTUD7B and YAP1. RESULTS: OTUD7B was highly expressed in tumor tissues from GC patients, and high mRNA expression was strongly associated with poor prognosis, suggesting that OTUD7B was an independent prognostic factor. Moreover, OTUD7B overexpression promoted GC cell proliferation and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo, whereas OTUD7B knockdown exhibited opposing biological effects. Mechanically, OTUD7B promoted downstream target genes of YAP1 including NUAK2, Snail, Slug, CDK6, CTGF, and BIRC5. Importantly, OTUD7B enhanced the activation of YAP1 via deubiquitinating and stabilizing to upregulate NUAK2 expression. CONCLUSIONS: OTUD7B is a novel DUB of the YAP1 pathway and accelerates GC progression. Therefore, OTUD7B may be a promising therapeutic target against GC.

ABSTRACT

Chlorophenols are widespread environmental organic pollutants with harmful effects on human beings. Although relationships between chlorophenols and various dysfunctions/diseases have been reported, the contribution of chlorophenols exposure to mortalities is underdetermined. In this cohort study, we included 4 types of urinary chlorophenols, aiming to estimate associations of chlorophenols exposure with all-cause and cause-specific mortalities. Urinary chlorophenols were examined at baseline of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2010, and adjusted for the urinary creatinine level. Associations between chlorophenols and mortalities were estimated using COX regression analyses, results were shown as hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI). By dividing participants into four subgroups based on quartiles of urinary levels of chlorophenols, associations between mortalities and categorical variables of chlorophenols were estimated. Furthermore, the quantile g-computation analysis was used to estimate the joint effects of 4 chlorophenols on mortalities. Among 5817 adults (2863 men), 1034 were deceased during the follow-up. After adjusted for confounders, 2,4,5-trichlorophenol (2,4,5-TCP) was found to be positively associated with both all-cause (HR = 1.46; 95% CI: 1.16, 1.84) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortalities (HR = 1.60; 95% CI: 1.00, 2.55). Compared to the subgroup of the lowest level of chlorophenols, participants in subgroups of higher 2,4,5-TCP levels showed higher risk of all-cause mortality (P-value for trend = 0.003). For CVD mortality, HRs in subgroups of higher levels of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) were statistically significant (P-values for trend were 0.017 for 2,4-DCP and 0.049 for 2,4,6-TCP). The HRs (95% CI) of joint effects of 4 chlorophenols were 1.11 (1.01, 1.21) and 1.32 (1.10, 1.57) for all-cause and CVD-specific mortalities, and 2,4,5-TCP showed the highest weight in joint effects. All of these findings implied that among 4 urinary chlorophenols we included, 2,4,5-TCP might be a sensitive one in associations with mortalities among general populations.

ABSTRACT

Gastric carcinoma has a poor prognosis and low survival rate. PRIM1 is closely associated with the origin of DNA replication and serves as a carcinogenic factor in multiple tumors. This study aimed to explore the functions of PRIM1 in the progression of gastric carcinoma. The luciferase reporter assay examined the regulatory effect of YAP1/TEAD4 on PRIM1. A xenograft tumor mouse model was constructed to observe cancer cell proliferation in vivo. The upregulation of PRIM1 was found in gastric carcinoma cells and tissues, and it was associated with poor prognosis. Silencing PRIM1 inhibited cell proliferation, arrested the cell cycle, and upregulated Cdc25, Cyclin B, and Cdc2 expression. In addition, apoptosis was increased upon PRIM1 knockdown, accompanied by increased protein levels of cleaved caspase-3 and caspase-8. In vivo, knockdown of PRIM1 suppressed the growth of xenograft tumors formed by gastric carcinoma cells. Moreover, PRIM1 silencing elevated the chemosensitivity of gastric carcinoma cells. By investigating molecular events downstream of the Hippo signaling pathway, we found that PRIM1 was a target gene of the YAP1/TEAD4 transcriptional regulatory complex. PRIM1 represents a novel target for gastric carcinoma therapeutic approaches.

ABSTRACT

Considerable thermal energy is emitted into the environment from human activities and equipment operation in the course of daily production. Accordingly, the use of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) can attract wide interest, and it shows high potential in reducing energy waste and increasing energy recovery rates. Notably, TEGs have aroused rising attention and been significantly boosted over the past few years, as the energy crisis has worsened. The reason for their progress is that thermoelectric generators can be easily attached to the surface of a heat source, converting heat energy directly into electricity in a stable and continuous manner. In this review, applications in wearable devices, and everyday life are reviewed according to the type of structure of TEGs. Meanwhile, the latest progress of TEGs' hybridization with triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG), and photovoltaic effect is introduced. Moreover, prospects and suggestions for subsequent research work are proposed. This review suggests that hybridization of energy harvesting, and flexible high-temperature thermoelectric generators are the future trends.

BACKGROUND: Published studies have shown positive associations of branched chain and aromatic amino acids with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and the findings remain consistent. However, the associations of other essential and semi-essential amino acids, i.e., methionine (Met), threonine (Thr), lysine (Lys), arginine (Arg) and histidine (His), with T2DM remain unknown. Obesity is an important independent risk factor for T2DM, and excessive amino acids can convert into glucose and lipids, which might underlie the associations of amino acids with obesity. Therefore, we aimed to estimate the associations between dietary intakes of these 5 amino acids and T2DM risk, as well as the mediation effects of obesity on these associations, in a Chinese population. METHODS: A total of 10,920 participants (57,293 person-years) were included, and dietary intakes of 5 amino acids were investigated using 24-h dietary recalls. Anthropometric obesity indices were measured at both baseline and the follow-up endpoints. Associations of amino acids with T2DM were estimated using COX regression models, hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were shown. The mediation effects of obesity indices were analyzed, and the proportion of the mediation effect was estimated. RESULTS: Higher intakes of the 5 amino acids were associated with increasing T2DM risk, while significant HRs were only shown in men after adjustments. No interaction by gender was found. Regression analyses using quintiles of amino acids intakes showed that T2DM risk was positively associated with amino acids intakes only when comparing participants with the highest intake levels of amino acids to those with the lowest intake levels. Adjusted correlation coefficients between amino acid intakes and obesity indices measured at follow-up endpoints were significantly positive. Mediation analyses showed that mediation effects of obesity indices existed on associations between amino acids intakes and T2DM risk, and the mediation effect of waist circumference remained strongest for each amino acid. CONCLUSIONS: We found positive associations of dietary intakes of Met, Thr, Lys, Arg and His with increasing T2DM risk in general Chinese residents, on which the mediation effect of obesity existed. These findings could be helpful for developing more constructive guidance in the primary prevention of T2DM based on dietary interventions.

ABSTRACT

Insect response to cold stress is often associated with adaptive strategies and chemical variation. However, low-temperature domestication to promote the cold tolerance potential of Bactrocera dorsalis and transformation of main internal substances are not clear. Here, we use a series of low-temperature exposure experiments, supercooling point (SCP) measurement, physiological substances and cryoprotectants detection to reveal that pre-cooling with milder low temperatures (5 and 10°C) for several hours (rapid cold hardening) and days (cold acclimation) can dramatically improve the survival rate of adults and pupae under an extremely low temperature (-6.5°C). Besides, the effect of rapid cold hardening for adults could be maintained even 4 h later with 25°C exposures, and SCP was significantly declined after cold acclimation. Furthermore, content of water, fat, protein, glycogen, sorbitol, glycerol and trehalose in bodies were measured. Results showed that water content was reduced and increased content of proteins, glycogen, glycerol and trehalose after two cold domestications. Our findings suggest that rapid cold hardening and cold acclimation could enhance cold tolerance of B. dorsalis by increasing proteins, glycerol, trehalose and decreasing water content. Conclusively, identifying a physiological variation will be useful for predicting the occurrence and migration trend of B. dorsalis populations.

AIM: This study aimed to explore the utility of latent profile analysis of illness perception, in comparison to treating illness perception as several dimensions, to predict breast cancer-related lymphedema risk management behaviours among Chinese breast cancer patients. METHODS: This is a 3-month longitudinal study. From August 2019 to January 2021, patients who recently underwent breast cancer surgery including axillary lymphadenectomy were recruited. Illness perception and risk management behaviours were measured by breast cancer-related lymphedema specific questionnaires before discharge following surgery (n = 268) and at 3 months postsurgery (n = 213), respectively. RESULTS: Treating illness perception as several dimensions, 'illness coherence' and 'timeline (cyclical)' dimensions were found to be significantly associated with breast cancer-related lymphedema risk management behaviours. Using the latent profile analysis, two illness perception profiles were identified and significant differences were revealed in breast cancer-related lymphedema risk management behaviours between them. Overall, illness perception profiles explained smaller amounts of variability in breast cancer-related lymphedema risk management behaviours than illness perception dimensions. CONCLUSION: Future studies could combine these two different perspectives of illness perception regarding breast cancer-related lymphedema into the design of interventions to improve breast cancer-related lymphedema risk management behaviours.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the 5th most common cancer over the world. Ubiquitin protease 43 (UBP43) is a multifunctional protein with deubiquitinase activities. Abnormal expression of UBP43 has been reported in numerous types of malignancies. Bioinformatic analysis was performed to identify the differentially expressed genes (Fold change ≥2 or ≤ -2 and p < 0.01) in GC from the datasets downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis databases, which showed that UBP43 and stress-inducible phosphoprotein 1 (STIP1) were up-regulated in both datasets. Online databases displayed the binding of UBP43 to STIP1 and the positive correlation between the two proteins. This study aims to explore: the role of UBP43 in cell proliferation and apoptosis in GC; the relationship between UBP43 and STIP1; and whether UBP43 exerts its function via STIP1 in GC. Knockdown/overexpression stable GC cell lines were generated by transducing lentivirus carrying coding sequence/short hairpin RNA of UBP43 and puromycin selection. GC patients with higher expressions of UBP43 had poor prognosis. Loss-/gain-of-function experiments revealed that pro-proliferative and anti-apoptotic abilities of UBP43 in GC cells and xenografts. UBP43 could interact with STIP1, inhibit its ubiquitination, and promote its protein stability, thereby enhancing STIP1 expression. Moreover, STIP1 knockdown reversed the pro-proliferative ability of UBP43 in GC cells. Our study uncovers that the pro-proliferative role of UBP43 in GC development is STIP1-dependent and indicates that UBP43 may act as a potent therapeutic target in GC treatment.

OBJECTIVE: To identify longitudinal trajectories of illness perception (IP) regarding breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL) in the first six months after surgery among women with breast cancer and to explore the predictive effects of demographics and clinical factors on IP trajectories. METHODS: From August 2019 to August 2021, a total of 352 patients participated in this study, 328 of whom were included in the data analysis. Demographic and clinical characteristics were collected at baseline (1-3 days after surgery). The BCRL-specific revised illness perception questionnaire was used to measure IP regarding BCRL at baseline and 1 month, 3 months and 6 months post-surgery. A multilevel model was conducted to analyze the data. RESULTS: Over the first six months post-surgery, the "timeline acute/chronic" and "illness coherence" dimensions showed positive growth trajectories; the "personal control" and "treatment control" dimensions presented negative growth trajectories; and the trajectories of identity, consequences, cyclicality and emotional influence perceptions regarding BCRL showed no significant changes. Age, education level, marital status, employment status, family monthly income per person, cancer stage and status of removed lymph nodes were indicated to be predictive factors of IP trajectories. CONCLUSIONS: The present study determined significant changes over the first six months post-surgery in four IP dimensions and predictive effects of some demographics and clinical details on IP trajectories. These findings may help healthcare providers know more about the dynamic characteristics of IPs regarding BCRL in patients with breast cancer and assist them in identifying patients with a tendency toward improper IP regarding BCRL.

BACKGROUND: Fucosyltransferase 2(FUT2) and its induced α-1,2 fucosylation is associated with cancer metastasis. However, the role of FUT2 in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains unclear. METHODS: The expression levels and clinical analyses of FUT2 were assessed in CRC samples. Migration and invasion assays, EMT detection, nude mice peritoneal dissemination models and intestinal specific FUT2 knockout mice (FUT2△IEC mice) were used to investigate the effect of FUT2 on metastasis in colorectal cancer. Quantitative proteomics study of glycosylated protein, UEA enrichment, Co-immunoprecipitation identified the mediator of the invasive-inhibiting effects of FUT2. RESULTS: FUT2 is downregulated in CRC tissues and is positively correlated with the survival of CRC patients. FUT2 is an inhibitor of colorectal cancer metastasis which, when overexpressed, suppresses invasion and tumor dissemination in vitro and in vivo. FUT2 knock-out mice (FUT2△IEC mice) develop AMO and DSS-induced tumors and promote EMT in colorectal cancers. FUT2-induced α-1,2 fucosylation impacts the ability of low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1(LRP1) to suppress colorectal cancer invasion. CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that FUT2 induces α-1,2 fucosylation and inhibits EMT and metastasis of colorectal cancer through LRP1 fucosylation, suggesting that FUT2 may serve as a therapeutic target for colorectal cancer. AIMS: To evaluate the effects of couple-based dyadic interventions on breast cancer patients and their intimate partners and compare the effects between interventions with different durations (<3 months; =3 months; >3 months). DESIGN: A systematic review and meta-analysis. DATA SOURCES: Six English databases, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science Core Collection, the Cochrane Library, Medline, PsycINFO, and three Chinese databases, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang, and Weipu (VIP), from database inception to 19 February 2022. REVIEW METHODS: The quality of the included RCTs was evaluated using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool and the data analysis was performed by using RevMan 5.4 and Stata 15. The outcomes were categorized into five aspects: dyadic relationship, overall quality of life (QOL), physical health, psychological health and social adjustment. RESULTS: Nineteen RCTs were included. For patients' overall effects, couple-based dyadic interventions can improve sexual frequency, psychological health (anxiety; depression; well-being; body image) and social adjustment (family function-cohesion; social function-total). In the subgroup analysis, it can adjust patients' relationship satisfaction (>3 months), sexual frequency (>3 months), depression (<3 months and >3 months), well-being (>3 months), and body image (3 months). For intimate partners, no statistically significant overall effects were found, and all results in the subgroup analyses showed no statistical significance. CONCLUSIONS: The results revealed the different effects of couple-based dyadic interventions on dyads. It also suggested that tailored intervention duration should be a focus in future studies to obtain the potential actor-partner benefits. IMPACT: This study revealed that the overall effects of the couple-based dyadic interventions include enhancing patients' sexual frequency, psychological health and social adjustment. Clinical practitioners should consider the intimate partners' outcomes and conduct couple-based dyadic interventions that contain more tailored elements to achieve better effects. ABSTRACT

AIM: This study aimed to describe self-management among cervical cancer patients and to elucidate the relationship between illness perception and self-management in patients with cervical cancer. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study. A convenience sample of 220 cervical cancer patients was recruited from the gynaecology outpatient department of a cancer hospital. Data were collected from September 2018 to February 2019. Self-management and illness perception were assessed using the Cancer Self-Management Assessment Scale and the Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire for cervical cancer, respectively. Data were analysed using Pearson correlation analysis, univariate analysis and hierarchical linear regression analysis. RESULTS: The mean score of self-management was 3.87 ± 0.53, and daily life management showed the highest score (4.18 ± 0.58), while symptom management was the lowest (3.11 ± 082). Hierarchical linear regression analysis showed that family monthly income per person, types of surgery and personal control were factors that significantly influenced self-management. CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrate that self-management among patients with cervical cancer needs to be improved. The significant influence of illness perception offers an opportunity for nurses to improve self-management behaviours of patients with cervical cancer.

ABSTRACT

The information dimension obtained by multispectral ghost imaging is more abundant than in single-band ghost imaging. Existing multispectral ghost imaging systems still meet some shortages, such as complex structure or reconstruction time-consuming. Here, an approach of cosinusoidal encoding multiplexed structured illumination multispectral ghost imaging is proposed. It can capture the multispectral image of the target object within one projection cycle with a single-pixel detector while maintaining high imaging efficiency and low time-consuming. The core of the proposed approach is the employed novel encoding strategy which is apt to decode and reconstruct the multispectral image via the Fourier transform. Specifically, cosinusoidal encoding matrices with specific frequency characteristics are fused with the orthogonal Hadamard basis patterns to form the multiplexed structured illumination patterns. A broadband photomultiplier is employed to collect the backscattered signals of the target object interacted by the corresponding structured illumination. The conventional linear algorithm is applied first to recover the mixed grayscale image of the imaging scene. Given the specific frequency distribution of the constructed cosinusoidal encoding matrices, the mixed grayscale image can be converted to the frequency domain for further decoding processing. Then, the pictures of multiple spectral components can be obtained with some manipulations by applying Fourier transform. A series of numerical simulations and experiments verified our proposed approach. The present cosinusoidal encoding multiplexed structured illumination can also be introduced in many other fields of high-dimensional information acquisition, such as high-resolution imaging and polarization ghost imaging.

PURPOSE: To describe medication adherence, to analyze the relationships among medication adherence, illness perception, and beliefs about medicines, and to determine the mediating effects of beliefs about medicines on the relationship in breast cancer patients with adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) in China. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 202 breast cancer patients with AET from September 2017 to February 2019 in China. The Medication Adherence Report Scale (MARS-5), the Chinese version of the revised illness perception questionnaire for Breast Cancer (CIPQ-R-BC) and the Beliefs about Medicines Questionnaire (BMQ) were used. RESULTS: The mean MARS-5 score of our participants was 23.72 (SD = 1.62), and 175 (86.6%) patients were adherent to medications. Moreover, medication adherence was negatively correlated with identity, environmental or immune factors, emotional representations, BMQ-specific concerns, BMQ-general overuse, and BMQ-general harm, as well as being positively correlated with coherence and the total BMQ scores. Furthermore, beliefs in the overuse about medicines functioned as mediators for the influencing effects of coherence and emotional representations on medication adherence. CONCLUSION: Illness perception not only directly affected medication adherence, but also indirectly affected medication adherence through the beliefs about medicines. Necessary interventions that target beliefs in the overuse about medicines in breast cancer patients with AET with low levels of coherence or high levels of emotional representations could be provided to improve the level of their medication adherence.

ABSTRACT

Single-pixel imaging (SPI) is a new technology with many applications and prospects. Polarization detection technology can improve the detection and identification ability of the imaging system. A near-infrared polarization SPI lidar system is designed to realize detection and polarization imaging of outdoor long-range targets. The depth, intensity, linear polarization, and polarization degree images of typical remote targets are obtained. The results show that the polarization image contains many details and contour information of the target, and the intensity image contains brightness and reflectivity information. Intensity and polarization information complement each other. The characteristics of intensity and polarization images at different spatial frequencies are analyzed for the first time, to our knowledge, by taking advantage of the Fourier modulation mode. We found that the proportion of high-frequency information in the polarization image is much higher than that of the intensity image. The sampling strategy of collecting only low-frequency components is applicable in intensity imaging but needs further improvement in polarization imaging. The polarization SPI lidar system can enrich the target information acquired, improve imaging contrast, and have significant application value for target detection and identification in complex backgrounds.

ABSTRACT

Single-pixel imaging (SPI), a novel computational imaging technique that has emerged in the past decades, can effectively capture the image of a static object by consecutively measuring light intensities from it. However, when SPI is applied to imaging the dynamic object, severe motion blur in the restored image tends to appear. In this Letter, a new SPI scheme is proposed to largely alleviate such a problem by leveraging a calibrated radon spectrum. Such a spectrum is obtained by translating the acquired one-dimensional projection functions (1DPFs) according to the positional relationship among the 1DPFs. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate that, without prior knowledge, our approach can effectively reduce motion blur and restore high-quality images of the fast-moving object. In addition, the proposed scheme can also be used for fast object tracking.
