ABSTRACT

Mechanisms of action of pantogematogen (PG), granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), glycyram, and D-glucuronic asid (D-GA) have been investigated under the conditions of myelosuppression caused by the introduction of cyclophosphane. It is established that the activation of granulocytopoiesis by these preparations is based on various mechanisms: G-CSF directly stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of hemopoietic cells; PG enhances the proliferation of granulocytes due to activation of the regulatory systems; D-GA and glycyram normalize the structural and functional organization of a bone marrow, thus providing intensive maturing of the colony-forming units.

ABSTRACT

The qualitative and quantitative composition of the hemopoietic tissue has been studied and the processes of erythropoiesis regeneration in mice treated with cyclophosphamide and skullcap (Scutellaria Baicalensis) extract against a background of cyclophosphamide treatment have been studied. The skullcap extract produced a significant erythropoiesis-stimulating effect under the conditions of cytostatic myclosuppression. Activation of the erythroid branch of hemopoiesis was related to the growing number of erythropoiesis precursor cells in the bone marrow and also to an increase in the concentration of humoral factors of erythropoiesis regulation in the peripheral blood serum.

ABSTRACT

The granulocyte lineage reaction and its mechanism were studied in the bone marrow of patients with breast cancer in stage III-IV treated according to a specific CAF scheme including cropanol, an antitumor drug of the animal origin. It was found that the bone marrow cytopoiesis suppressed by the cytostatics is stimulated by cropanol on the level of committed precursors, morphologically differentiated bone marrow elements, and peripheral blood.

ABSTRACT

Pantohematogen stimulates hemopoiesis in mice with cyclophosphane induced bone marrow hypoplasia. The hemopoiesis recovery activated by pantohematogen is manifested by the granulocyte lineage hyperplasia in the bone marrow, rapid restoration of the polymorphonuclear leukocyte and monocyte counts in the peripheral blood, and the development of neutrophilia and monocytosis. The activation effect of pantohematogen on the bone marrow hemopoiesis is related to stimulating the precursor cell proliferation and differentiation and to increasing the functional activity of the hemopoietic microenvironment.
