The "teacup sign": Significance in breast imaging.

Milk of calcium (MOC) is a term used for sedimented calcifications within small cysts (Milk of Calcium - an overview|ScienceDirect Topics, n.d.). MOC in the breast is a benign entity and present in 4-6% of women that undergo diagnostic mammography (Park et al., 2008).2 Calcium particles within cysts produce 'teacup'-shaped calcifications on true lateral views, and smudged calcifications on craniocaudal (CC) views (Veloso Gomes et al., n.d.).3 On the CC projection, the calcifications will have a cloudlike or smudgy appearance like tea leaves in the bottom of a teacup (Milk of Calcium - an overview|ScienceDirect Topics, n.d.). Because this is a characteristic benign finding, there is no need for the patient to undergo a biopsy.

Comparing Outcomes of Musculoskeletal Radiographs from In-Person and Telemedicine Primary Care Cohorts, April 2019-June 2021.

PURPOSE: Musculoskeletal conditions are a common reason for primary care visits, and they are being increasingly addressed at televisits. We therefore examined outcomes of musculoskeletal radiographs ordered at in-person and telemedicine primary care visits, which have implications for patient care and the economic impact of telemedicine. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of musculoskeletal radiograph orders placed April 1, 2019-March 31, 2021 at a major academic health system. Radiology reports were classified as normal or abnormal based on the radiologist's impression. Findings were compared using c2 tests. RESULTS: The main outcome was radiographic abnormalities. A secondary outcome was the effect of social determinants of health and medical comorbidities on telemedicine utilization. A total of 1580 radiographs were reviewed. Compared with televisits occurring after onset of the SARS-Cov2-19 pandemic, radiographs ordered at in-person visits had higher odds of being abnormal (OR 2.51, 95% CI 1.33-4.75; P = .004). When comparing radiographic outcomes at in-person visits before and after the pandemic's onset, those ordered afterward had higher odds of being abnormal (OR 1.88, 95% CI 1.30-2.71; P < .001). Social determinants of health and medical comorbidities were not associated with telemedicine utilization. CONCLUSIONS: After the onset of the SARS-Cov2-19 pandemic, radiographs ordered at in-person visits had higher odds of being abnormal compared with televisits. These findings indicate that prudence should be applied to ordering musculoskeletal radiographs in telemedicine encounters.

Influence of Concussion History and Genetics on Event-Related Potentials in Athletes: Potential Use in Concussion Management.

Sports-related concussions are an increasing public health issue with much concern about the possible long-term decrements in cognitive function and quality of life that may occur in athletes. The measurement of cognitive function is a common component of concussion management protocols due to cognitive impairments that occur after sustaining a concussion; however, the tools that are often used may not be sensitive enough to expose long term problems with cognitive function. The current paper is a brief review, which suggests that measuring cognitive processing through the use of event related potentials (ERPs) may provide a more sensitive assessment of cognitive function, as shown through recent research showing concussion history to influence ERPs components. The potential influence of genetics on cognitive function and ERPs components will also be discussed in relation to future concussion management.
