ABSTRACT

We describe a new, simple and low-temperature method for ultra-thin coating of graphene oxide (GO) by peroxostannate, tin oxide or a mixture of tin and tin oxide crystallites by different treatments. The technique is environmentally friendly and does not require complicated infrastructure, an autoclave or a microwave. The supported peroxostannate phase is partially converted after drying to crystalline tin oxide with average, 2.5 nm cassiterite crystals. Mild heat treatment yielded full coverage of the reduced graphene oxide by crystalline tin oxide. Extensive heat treatment in vacuum at >500 °C yielded a mixture of elemental tin and cassiterite tin oxide nanoparticles supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The usefulness of the new approach was demonstrated by the preparation of two types of lithium ion anodes: tin oxide-rGO and a mixture of tin oxide and tin coated rGO composites (SnO(2)-Sn-rGO). The electrodes exhibited stable charge/discharge cyclability and high charging capacity due to the intimate contact between the conductive graphene and the very small tin oxide crystallites. The charging/discharging capacity of the anodes exceeded the theoretical capacity predicted based on tin lithiation. The tin oxide coated rGO exhibited higher charging capacity but somewhat lower stability upon extended charge/discharge cycling compared to SnO(2)-Sn-rGO.

ABSTRACT

The paper provides the author's decompression linearizer of indirect blood pressure measuring device which is intended for automatic maintenance of constant decreases of air pressure in the cuff and represents a controlled pneumo-resistance whose values are automatically changed under the action of pressure and air consumption in the meter cuff. The use of the linearizer enhances the accuracy of measurements and their repeatability and significantly reduces the operating time of blood pressure measurements both under routine conditions when blood pressure is measured by the Korotkov method and particularly in the auto mode.

ABSTRACT

Synthetically produced peptides increased the luminol-dependent chemoluminescence of mice whole blood during phagocytosis. Using some peptides it is possible to cause an increase in the antimicrobial peroxidase system activity of neutrophils very rapidly (within seconds).

ABSTRACT

The authors provide the main technical characteristics of 6 experimental outfits for measuring dental bite. In the outfits, use is made of transducers of different types: capacitive, tensoresistive, fitted with a sensitive element in the form of a beam of equal resistance and converters of varied types. The weight of the outfits is from 10 to 30 g. It is assumed that the industrial manufacture of the most promising models may be commenced after the completion of experimental work.

ABSTRACT

In vitro effect of biologically active D-Ala4-dermorphin on the phagocytizing and resting cells of mice whole blood was studied using luminol-dependent chemiluminescence. D-Ala4-dermorphin influenced only on chemiluminescence of the phygocytizing cells: maximal effect was observed at 1.015 X 10(-7) M of the peptide.

ABSTRACT

For diagnosing pre-convulsive states use is made, as a rule, of electroencephalography. This method, however, not always gives satisfactory results. The authors present the results of experimental studies of the nervous tissue impedance in the period preceding the convulsive seizure induced in laboratory animals by electric stimulation of the limbic structures of the brain. The experiments showed that a few seconds before the generalization of the convulsive process one could note certain changes in the electric conductivity of the nervous tissue. These changes make it possible to take measures for preventing the seizure.
