ABSTRACT

Collaborative management of environmental pollution and carbon emissions (CMPC) has been a major policy instrument to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in recent years. However, the relationship between the benefits and drawbacks of this environmental management practice for green growth in and around a local area remains to be clarified. Using 30 provinces in China during 2001-2019 as the object of analysis, we assessed the efficiency of local CMPC practices using the nonradial directional distance function (NDDF) model, predicted local green growth using the frontier green complexity index (GCI), and empirically examined the spatial effects, locational heterogeneity, and threshold characteristics of the relationship using the spatial Durbin model and the panel threshold model. Our study finds that although efficient CMPC does drive local green growth, the promotion effect is nonlinear with decreasing marginal effect. This effect is particularly obvious in economically developed regions with higher CMPCs, which will absorb resources from neighboring regions and create a "siphoning" effect. It was found that local financial support and foreign direct investment (FDI) can radiate green growth to neighboring regions; therefore, CMPC practice needs to pay more attention to the effect of joint governance, supplemented by financial and foreign investment policy tools, to better promote the green transformation of local economy.

ABSTRACT

To explore the characteristics of hematologic indicators and related risk factors of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (LDVT) in patients with cerebral infarction. METHODS: This study retrospectively analyzed data from 174 patients with cerebral infarction admitted to The Rehabilitation Department of Shanghai Fifth Rehabilitation Hospital and Shanghai First People's Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023. Based on the results of lower limb venous color Doppler ultrasound examinations, patients were divided into two groups: the LDVT group (35 cases) and the non-LDVT group (139 cases). We compared the clinical data and hematologic indicators (D-dimer value, fibrinogen, white blood cells, platelets, uric acid, creatinine, etc.) of the two groups to identify the risk factors of cerebral infarction complicated with LDVT. RESULTS: Statistical analysis revealed that the D-dimer values of the LDVT group were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those of the non-LDVT group. The uric acid value of the LDVT group was significantly lower than that of the non-LDVT group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). The Brunnstrom staging in the LDVT group was significantly different from that in the non-LDVT group (P<0.05). Meanwhile, binary logistic regression analysis showed that LDVT complicated with cerebral infarction was associated with D-dimer level [OR=1.302, 95% CI (1.077, 1.575)], uric acid level [OR=0.995, 95% CI (0.990, 1.000)], and Brunnstrom staging [OR=3.005, 95% CI (1.312, 6.880)]. CONCLUSION: D-dimer value, uric acid value, and Brunnstrom stage I to II are closely related to the occurrence of LDVT in patients with cerebral infarction. High D-dimer value, low uric acid value, and Brunnstrom stage I to II are independent risk factors for LDVT in cerebral infarction. Early assessment of D-dimer value, uric acid value, and Brunnstrom stage of cerebral infarction should be considered in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Background: There is little research on the relationship between flavonol consumption and chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study aimed to examine the link between flavonol consumption and the risk of CKD among US adults, using data from the 2007-2008, 2009-2010 and 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Methods: A cross-sectional approach was used, drawing on data from three NHANES cycles. The flavonol consumption of the participants in this study was assessed using a 48 h dietary recall interview. CKD was diagnosed based on an estimated glomerular filtration rate below 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 or a urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio of 30 mg/g or higher. Results: Compared to the lowest quartile of flavonol intake (Q1), the odds ratios for CKD were 0.598 (95% CI: 0.349, 1.023) for the second quartile (Q2), 0.679 (95% CI: 0.404, 1.142) for the third quartile (Q3), and 0.628 (95% CI: 0.395, 0.998) for the fourth quartile (Q4), with a p value for trend significance of 0.190. In addition, there was a significant trend in CKD risk with isorhamnetin intake, with the odds ratios for CKD decreasing to 0.860 (95% CI: 0.546, 1.354) in the second quartile, 0.778 (95% CI: 0.515, 1.177) in the third quartile, and 0.637 (95% CI: 0.515, 1.177) in the fourth quartile (p for trend = 0.013). Conclusion: Our analysis of the NHANES data spanning 2007-2008, 2009-2010, and 2017-2018 suggests that high consumption of dietary flavonol, especially isorhamnetin, might be linked to a lower risk of CKD in US adults. These findings offer new avenues for exploring strategies for managing CKD.

The desire to explore the natural resources and geopolitical patterns of the North and South Poles has significantly increased the interest of experts and researchers in the development and utilization of the polar regions. In this article, we comprehensively analyzed the current state of the development of polar low-temperature steel around the world. We highlighted the challenges that must be addressed in the ongoing development efforts and summarized the expected future trends in this field. The main theme of this article involves the challenges encountered in polar environments primarily caused by the low-temperature toughness and seawater corrosion of marine steel.

ABSTRACT

Interleukin-17A therapeutic inhibitors are among the most effective treatment methods for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis (PP). Reflectance confocal microscopy is a non-invasive imaging technique already documented to be beneficial in evaluating the follow-up of PP under treatment with topical actives and phototherapy. This study aimed to assess the epidermal and dermal changes associated with psoriasis and its treatment with RCM during systemic secukinumab treatment in patients with moderate-to-severe PP. A pilot study was conducted to evaluate RCM as a non-invasive tool for monitoring secukinumab treatment in patients with PP. For patients receiving secukinumab treatment, lesional skin was selected for RCM imaging, which were recorded at all scheduled times. The RCM evaluation criteria were established based on the histopathological diagnostic criteria for psoriasis. The clinical severity of psoriasis was assessed utilizing the psoriasis area severity index. A total of 23 patients with PP were included in the study. Each patient received 300 mg of subcutaneous secukinumab as induction therapy at baseline and weeks 1-4, followed by maintenance therapy every four weeks. Microscopic confocal changes were observed during the treatment. The results identified early microscopic evidence of the anti-inflammatory activity of secukinumab, which was not detected during the clinical examination. RCM findings correlating with the PASI were used to observe the patient's response to treatment and were identified as follows: acanthosis and parakeratosis, presence of epidermal and dermal inflammatory cells, presence of non-edge dermal papillae, and vascularization in the papillary dermis. This study is the first to demonstrate the use of RCM as an effective tool for non-invasive monitoring of secukinumab therapeutic response at a cellular level in a clinical or research setting. Early detection of RCM parameters associated with secukinumab activity may facilitate the identification of an early treatment response. RCM appears to be capable of providing practical and helpful information regarding follow-up in patients with PP undergoing secukinumab treatment. RCM may also provide novel perspectives on the subclinical evaluation of PP's response to biological therapy.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Management of inferior ramus of the pubis-ischium ramus remains controversial, and related research is sparse. The main intention of this study is to describe the biomechanical and clinical outcomes of pubis-ischium ramus fractures in Tile B pelvic injuries and to identify the feasibility and necessity of fixation of the inferior ramus of the pubis-ischium ramus. METHODS: This study comprised two parts: a biomechanical test and a retrospective clinical study. For the biomechanical tests, Tile B-type pelvic injuries were modeled in six cadaver specimens by performing pubis-ischium osteotomies and disruption of the anterior and interosseous sacroiliac ligaments. The superior and/or inferior rami of the pubis-ischium ramus were repaired with reconstruction plates and separated into three groups (A, B, and C). Specimens were placed in the standing position and were loaded axially with two-leg support for three cycles at 500 N. The displacements of sacroiliac joints at osteotomy were measured with Vernier calipers and compared using statistical software. To investigate the clinical outcomes of this technique, 26 patients were retrospectively analyzed and divided into a superior ramus fixation group (Group D) and a combined superior and inferior ramus of the pubis-ischium ramus fixation group (Group E). The main outcome measures were time of operation, blood loss, postoperative radiographic reduction grading, and functional outcomes. RESULTS: In the vertical loading test, Group E showed better pelvic ring stability than Group D (P < 0.05). However, the shift of the sacroiliac joints was almost identical among the three groups. In our clinical case series, all fractures in Group E achieved bony union. Group E demonstrated earlier weight-bearing functional exercise (2.54 ± 1.45 vs 4.77 ± 2.09; P = 0.004), earlier bony union (13.23 ± 2.89 vs 16.55 ± 3.11; P = 0.013), and better functional outcomes (89.77 ± 7.27 vs 82.38 ± 8.81; P = 0.028) than Group D. The incidence of sexual dysfunction was significantly lower in Group E than that in Group D (2/13 vs 7/13; P = 0.039). Bone nonunion occurred in two patients in Group D, and two patients in Group E had heterotopic ossification. None of the patients exhibited wound complications, infections, implant failures, or bone-implant interface failures. CONCLUSIONS: Fixation of the inferior ramus of a pubis-ischium ramus fracture based on conventional fixation of the anterior pelvic ring is mechanically superior in cadaveric Tile B pelvic injury and shows rapid recovery, good functional outcomes, and low incidence of complications.

ABSTRACT

In the synthetic laboratory, researchers typically rely on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra to elucidate structures of synthesized products and confirm whether they match the desired target compounds. As chemical synthesis technology evolves toward intelligence and continuity, efficient computer-assisted structure elucidation (CASE) techniques are required to replace time-consuming manual analysis and provide the necessary speed. However, current CASE methods typically aim to derive precise chemical structures from spectroscopic data, yet they suffer from drawbacks such as low accuracy, high computational cost, and reliance on chemical libraries. In meticulously designed chemical synthesis reactions, researchers prioritize confirming the attainment of the target product based on NMR spectra, rather than focusing on identifying the specific product obtained. For this purpose, we innovatively developed a binary classification model, termed as MatCS, to directly predict the relationship between NMR spectra image (including 1H NMR and 13C NMR) and the molecular structure of the target compound. After evaluating various feature extraction methods, MatCS employs a combination of the Graph Attention Networks and Graph Convolutional Networks to learn the structural features of molecular graphs and the pretrained ResNet101 network with a Convolutional Block Attention Module to extract features from NMR spectra images. The results show that on a challenging Testsim data set, which poses difficulty in distinguishing spectra of similar molecular structures, MatCS achieves comprehensive evaluation metrics with an F1-score of 0.81 and an AUC value of 0.87. Simultaneously, it exhibited commendable performance on an external SDBS data set containing experimental NMR spectra, showcasing substantial potential for structural verification tasks in real automated chemical synthesis.

ABSTRACT

Due to the stability issue, It is difficult to prepare a silver nanocluster bearing functional sites, especially at a large scale. We report the synthesis and structure of a stable silver nanocluster bearing multiple surface aldehyde groups [Ag21(Ph2PO2)10(p-CHOPhC≡C)6]SbF6, which allows for postsynthesis modification such as surface functionalization through aldimine condensation to give homochiral clusters. Remarkably, the preparation of this cluster can be done in ~90% high yield at gram scale, which facilitates further studies and potential applications. Through DFT calculations and geometric structure analysis, the high stability of this cluster is attributed to the geometric closure and electronic structure. This is the first time that an effective one-pot method has been developed to synthesize functional silver nanoclusters in high yield. The title cluster will be useful in the development of a variety of cluster-based materials.

Constructed wetlands (CWs) have been widely used to ensure effective domestic wastewater treatment. Microorganisms-derived CWs have received extensive attention as they play a crucial role. However, research on the succession patterns of microbial communities and the influencing mechanisms of internal environmental factors throughout entire CW operations remains limited. In this context, three parallel-operated CWs were established in this study to assess the microbial communities and their influencing environmental factors at different substrate depths throughout the operation process using 16S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing and metagenomic sequencing. The results showed gradual reproduction and accumulation of the microbial communities throughout the CW operation. Although gradual increases in the richness and diversity of the microbial communities were found, there were decreases in the functional expression of the dominant microbial species. The excessive accumulation of microorganisms will decrease the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) within CWs and attenuate their influence on effluent. Dissolved oxygen (DO) was the major factor influencing the microbial community succession over the CW operation. The main identified functional bacterial genera responsible for the ammonium oxidation, nitrification, and denitrification processes in the CWs were Nitrosospira, Nitrobacter, Nitrospira, Rhodanobacter, and Nakamurella. The narG gene was identified as a key functional gene linking various components of nitrogen cycling, while pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and ORP were the major environmental factors affecting the metabolism characteristics of nitrogen functional microorganisms. This study provides a theoretical basis for the effective regulation of related microbial communities to achieve long-term, efficient, and stable CW operations.

BACKGROUND: Additional resection for invasive cancer at perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) resection margins has become a consensus. However, controversy still exists regarding whether additional resection is necessary for residual biliary intraepithelial neoplasia (BilIN). METHOD: Consecutive patients with pCCA from two hospitals were enrolled. The incidence and pattern of resection margin BilIN were summarized. Prognosis between patients with negative margins (R0) and BilIN margins were analyzed. Cox regression with a forest plot was used to identify independent risk factors associated with overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS). Subgroup analysis was performed based on BilIN features and tumor characteristics. RESULTS: 306 pCCA patients receiving curative resection were included. 255 had R0 margins and 51 had BilIN margins. There was no significant difference in OS (P = 0.264) or RFS (P = 0.149) between the two group. Specifically, 19 patients with BilIN at distal bile ducts and 32 at proximal bile ducts. 42 patients showed low-grade BilIN, and 9 showed high-grade. Further analysis revealed no significant difference in long-term survival between different locations (P = 0.354), or between different grades (P = 0.772). Portal vein invasion, poor differentiation and lymph node metastasis were considered independent risk factors for OS and RFS, while BilIN was not. Subgroup analysis showed no significant difference in long-term survival between the lymph node metastasis subgroup, or between the portal vein invasion subgroup. CONCLUSION: For pCCA patients underwent curative resection, residual BilIN at resection margin is acceptable. Additional resection is not necessary for such patients to achieve absolute R0 margin.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, a method for indirect diagnosis of transformer faults based on the fluorescence spectrum and characteristic wavelength screening of transformer oil has been proposed. Specifically, a hybrid strategy (BiPLS-RF) for establishing the fluorescence spectrum feature screening of transformer oil using backward interval partial least squares (BiPLS) and random forest (RF) has been proposed. Aiming at the problem of transformer fault diagnosis, the laser induced fluorescence (LIF) spectroscopy of transformer oil in different states was first collected, and it is found that the fluorescence spectrum intensity of normal transformer oil was stronger than that of faulty transformer oil. Then the characteristic bands of the original fluorescence spectra were screened by BiPLS. It is found that when the original fluorescence spectra were divided into 15 sub-intervals, the minimum root mean squares error of cross-validation can be obtained by selecting 3 sub-intervals (including 411 wavelengths). On this basis, RF was employed to further screen the characteristic wavelengths and realized the identification of the fluorescence spectrum. It is found that in the RF model composed of 54 trees, the selected 196 characteristic wavelengths of the fluorescence spectrum can minimize the analysis error (0.56%). In addition, the selected characteristic wavelength information was fed into other common classifiers to construct a fluorescence spectrum identification model, which further proved the effectiveness of BiPLS-RF for wavelength selection for LIF spectroscopy of power transformer oil. The results show that it is feasible to use BiPLS-RF to screen the characteristic wavelength of LIF spectroscopy and apply it to transformer fault diagnosis, which provides a new solution for transformer fault diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a refractory disease characterized by elevated pulmonary artery pressure and resistance. Drag-reducing polymers (DRPs) are blood-soluble macromolecules that reduce vascular resistance by altering the blood dynamics and rheology. Our previous work indicated that polyethylene oxide (PEO) can significantly reduce the medial wall thickness and vascular resistance of the pulmonary arteries, but the specific mechanism is still unclear. METHODS: This study was designed to investigate the role and mechanism of PEO on intracellular calcium [Ca2 +] i and cytoskeletal proteins of endothelial cells (ECs) induced by low shear stress (LSS) in PH. Primary Pulmonary Artery Endothelial Cells (PAECs) were subjected to steady LSS (1 dyn/cm2) or physiological shear stress (SS) (10 dyn/cm2) for 20 h in a BioFlux 200 flow system. Calcium influx assays were conducted to evaluate the mechanisms of PEO on [Ca2 +] i. Subsequently, taking the key protein that induces cytoskeletal remodeling, the regulatory light chain (RLC) phosphorylation, as the breakthrough point, this study focused on the two key pathways of PEO that regulate phosphorylation of RLC: Myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) and Rho-associated kinase (ROCK) pathways. RESULTS: Our current research revealed that PEO at LSS (1 dyn/cm2) significantly suppressed LSS-induced [Ca2 +] i and the expression level of transient receptor potential channel 1(TRPC1). In addition, ECs convert LSS stimuli into the upregulation of cytoskeletal proteins, including filamentous actin (F-actin), MLCK, ROCK, p-RLC, and pp-RLC. Further experiments using pharmacological inhibitors demonstrated that PEO at the LSS downregulated cytoskeleton-related proteins mainly through the ROCK and MLCK pathways. CONCLUSIONS: This study considered intracellular calcium and cytoskeleton rearrangement as entry points to study the application of PEO in the biomedical field, which has important theoretical significance and practical application value for the treatment of PH.

Recent research has demonstrated the positive impact of herbal tea consumption on postprandial blood glucose regulation. This study conducts a comparative analysis of aqueous and ethanol extractions on four herbal teas (Mallotus, Cyclocarya, Rubus, and Vine) to assess their phytochemical profiles and functional attributes. Phytochemical contents, antioxidant activities, α-glucosidase inhibitory activities, and chemical compositions are investigated via colorimetric analyses and UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS/MS, respectively. Results indicate that Vine, among the teas studied, exhibits the most pronounced glucose-regulating effects under both extraction methods. While ethanol extractions yield higher phytochemical content overall, the compositions vary. Conversely, aqueous extracts demonstrate unexpectedly potent antioxidant activities and comparable α-glucosidase inhibitory activities to ethanol extracts. Phytochemical contents correlate positively with antioxidant activities and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. However, antioxidant activities exhibit a weak positive correlation with α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. These findings provide evidence that aqueous extracts from herbal teas contain valuable phytochemical compositions beneficial for antioxidants and individuals with hyperglycemia, suggesting their potential as functional ingredients to enhance the nutritional value of herbal food products.

Upward comparisons are prevalent in life and have a significant influence on consumer psychology and subsequent behavior. Previous research examined the effects of upward comparisons on consumption behavior, mainly focusing on behavior that evokes positive emotions (e.g., donation behavior, sustainable consumption) or behavior that evokes negative emotions (e.g., impulsive consumption, compulsive consumption) and less on behavior that evokes both negative emotions and positive emotions (i.e., counterhedonic consumption). This research examined the effect of upward comparisons on counterhedonic consumption. Five studies (N = 1111) demonstrated that upward comparison (vs. non-upward comparison) leads to counterhedonic consumption, and this effect is mediated by relative deprivation (Studies 2 and 3). In addition, this research showed that the comparison targets moderate the effects of upward comparisons on counterhedonic consumption. Specifically, when the comparison target is a friend, an upward comparison (vs. non-upward comparison) leads to counterhedonic consumption. When the comparison target is a stranger, an upward comparison (vs. non-upward comparison) has no significant influence on counterhedonic consumption (Study 5). Our findings extend the research on upward comparisons, relative deprivation, and counterhedonic consumption.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To investigate whether the interplay of anti-galectin-3 antibodies (anti-Gal3 Abs) with neutrophils contributes to the development of lupus cutaneous vasculitis. METHODS: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to determine the serum level of anti-Gal3 Abs in lupus patients. Flow cytometry, quantitative PCR and western blot were performed to investigate the expression of cell surface receptors, proinflammatory cytokines and signalling molecules in neutrophils stimulated by serum from lupus patients or healthy controls (HCs) or anti-Gal3 Ab, respectively. Immunofluorescence was performed to visualise the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were co-cultured with the supernatants from neutrophils stimulated by anti-Gal3 Ab, and cytokine production was measured at mRNA and protein levels. Immunohistochemistry was adopted to reveal the distribution of Gal3, cytokines and myeloperoxidase within lupus skin lesions. REULTS: Serum levels of anti-Gal3 Abs were negatively correlated with peripheral counts of neutrophils. Anti-Gal3 Abs positive sera from SLE patients accelerated neutrophil death, altered cell phenotype and promoted formation of NETs with the involvement of p38 MAPK pathway. Supernatants collected from neutrophils co-cultured with anti-Gal3 Ab provoked endothelial cells to produce cytokines such as IL-1, ICAM-1, SELE and particularly IL-6. Consistently, IL-6 was higher in SLE patients with anti-Gal3 Ab positive sera and enriched in the area of vascular inflammation together with enhanced expression of Gal3 protein and infiltration of neutrophils. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, these findings suggested that neutrophils were crucial mediators in anti-Gal3 Ab induced lupus cutaneous vasculitis.

ABSTRACT

Mechanized, automated and intelligent brewing is an important trend of innovation and transition in Jiang-flavor baijiu industry. In this study, physicochemical parameters, microbial community composition and flavor substances during 3rd round heap fermentation between mechanical and traditional workshop were investigated and compared based on traditional culturable methods, high-throughput sequencing technology and gas chromatography analysis. The dominant bacterial and fungal genera were consistent between the two workshops, but mechanized brewing had a significant impact on the composition of fungal communities. Rhodococcus and Monascus were special genera in mechanical workshop. The interaction relationship between physicochemical parameters and dominant microorganisms in mechanized workshop was different from traditional workshop as well. This study provided a scientific basis for further analyzing the mechanism of mechanized brewing of Jiang-flavor baijiu. ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: Melanoma is highly malignant and heterogeneous. It is essential to develop a specific prognostic model for improving the patients' survival and treatment strategies. Recent studies have shown that ferroptosis results from the overproduction of lipid peroxidation and is an iron-dependent form of programmed cell death. Despite this, ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) and their clinical significances remain unknown in malignant melanoma. This study aims to assess the role of FRGs in melanoma, with the goal of developing a novel prognostic model that provides new insights into personalized treatment and improvement of therapeutic outcomes for melanoma. METHODS: We systematically characterized the genetic alterations and mRNA expression of 73 FRGs in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)-skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) dataset in this study. The results were validated with real-time RT-PCR and Western blotting. Subsequently, a multi-gene feature model was constructed using the TCGA-SKCM cohort. Melanoma patients were classified into a high-risk group and a low-risk group based on the feature model. As a final step, correlations between ferroptosis-related signatures and immune features, immunotherapy efficacy, or drug response were analyzed. RESULTS: By analyzing melanoma samples from TCGA-SKCM dataset, FRGs exhibited a high frequency of genetic mutations and copy number variations (CNVs), significantly impacting gene expression. Additionally, compared with normal skin tissue, 30 genes with significantly differential expression were identified in melanoma tissues. A prognostic model related to FRGs, constructed using the LASSO Cox regression method, identified 13 FRGs associated with overall survival prognosis in patients and was validated with external datasets. Finally, functional enrichment and immune response analysis further indicated significant differences in immune cell infiltration, mutation burden, and hypoxia status between the high-risk group and the low-risk group, and the model was effective in predicting responses to immunotherapy and drug sensitivity. CONCLUSIONS: This study develops a strong ferroptosis-related prognostic signature model which could put forward new insights into target therapy and immunotherapy for patients with melanoma.

ABSTRACT

Demetalation caused by the electrochemical dissolution of metallic Fe atoms is a major challenge for the practical application of Fe─N─C catalysts. Herein, an efficient single metallic Mn active site is constructed to improve the strength of the Fe─N bond, inhibiting the demetalation effect of Fe─N─C. Mn acts as an electron donor inducing more delocalized electrons to reduce the oxidation state of Fe by increasing the electron density, thereby enhancing the Fe─N bond and inhibiting the electrochemical dissolution of Fe. The oxygen reduction reaction pathway for the dissociation of Fe─Mn dual sites can overcome the high energy barriers to direct O─O bond dissociation and modulate the electronic states of Fe─N4 sites. The resulting FeMn─N─C exhibits excellent ORR activity with a high half-wave potential of 0.92 V in alkaline electrolytes. FeMn─N─C as a cathode catalyst for Zn-air batteries has a cycle stability of 700 h at 25 °C and a long cycle stability of more than 210 h under extremely cold conditions at -40 °C. These findings contribute to the development of efficient and stable metal-nitrogen-carbon catalysts for various energy devices.

ABSTRACT

Tung oil is commonly utilized for coating protection in wooden products, often attracting attention for its appearance, antimicrobial capabilities, and insect-resistant coatings. However, its poor mechanical properties and poor weather resistance stem from excessive self-crosslinking of surplus conjugated double bonds and molecular chains, resulting in poor film wrinkling. Therefore, this study introduces natural rubber via the Diels-Alder reaction to consume the residual double bonds in tung oil, resulting in tung oil/natural rubber composite coatings (NRTO) with excellent mechanical properties and weather resistance. The results indicate that NRTO exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including high elongation (32 %) and strong adhesion (4.55 MPa). Furthermore, NRTO demonstrates outstanding acid resistance and UV aging resistance. Given its many benefits, NRTO film emerges as a promising candidate for substantially protecting wood surfaces in demanding environments.
