A Call to Address AI "Hallucinations" and How Healthcare Professionals Can Mitigate Their Risks.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed society in many ways. AI in medicine has the potential to improve medical care and reduce healthcare professional burnout but we must be cautious of a phenomenon termed "AI hallucinations"and how this term can lead to the stigmatization of AI systems and persons who experience hallucinations. We believe the term "AI misinformation" to be more appropriate and avoids contributing to stigmatization. Healthcare professionals can play an important role in AI's integration into medicine, especially regarding mental health services, so it is important that we continue to critically evaluate AI systems as they emerge.

Utilization of EEG for Monitoring in Subarachnoid hemorrhage Recovery.

Seizures and delayed cerebral ischemia following subarachnoid hemorrhage are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. In this article, we briefly review subarachnoid hemorrhage, its complications, and the current literature on information gained from EEG monitoring in subarachnoid hemorrhage. We review when EEG should be used implemented in the multi-modal monitoring of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Finally, we discuss the recent advances and future directions in the field.

Management of Neuropsychiatric Symptoms for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disease associated with repeated head injury. The common presenting neuropsychiatric manifestations and diagnostic strategies for early diagnosis and subsequent treatment will be reviewed. This article discusses methods for injury prevention, risk assessment, and methods for supportive symptom management including lifestyle modifications, physical, occupational, and neurorehabilitation, and pharmaceutical management. Lastly, we propose the use of assessment tools validated for other neurodegenerative disorders in CTE to establish a baseline, track outcomes, and measure improvement in this population.

Updates in mechanical thrombectomy.

Stroke is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. The advent of mechanical thrombectomy has largely improved patient outcomes. This article reviews the features and outcomes associated with aspiration, stent retrievers, and combination catheters used in current practice. There is also a discussion on clinical considerations based on anatomical features and clot composition. The reperfusion grading scale and outcome metrics commonly used following thrombectomy when a patient is still in the hospital are reviewed. Lastly, there are proposed discharge and outpatient follow-up goals in caring for patients hospitalized for a stroke.
