ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the incidence of HBsAg and the risk of HBV infection in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). METHODS: A total of 114 newly diagnosed MM patients admitted in our hospital from May 2014 to July 2016 were enrolled in MM group, 110 healthy persons were enrolled in control group. The HBsAg positive rate and HBV infection rate were compared between 2 groups; the HBV infection rate of MM patients was compared before and after chemotherapy. According to detected results, all patients were divided into HBsAg+ group and HBsAg- group, and the lever damage in 2 groups was compared before and after treatment. For HBsAg+ and HBV-DNA+ patients, the preventive antiviral treatment was performed, while for other patients the preventive antiviral treatment was not performed, then the HBV reactivation was tested in each group. RESULTS: The incidence of HBsAg+ in MM patients seem a litter higher than that in control group without statistical significance (P>0.05); the incidence and severity of HBsAg+ group were higher than those of control group before treatment, moreover the difference between 2 groups was more significant after treatment (P< 0.05). The HBsAg reactivation was not found in 4 pases with HBsAg+ who received the proventive antiviral treatment, while the HBsAg reactivation was observed in 2 cases out of 6 cases without proventive antiviral treatment; the HBsAg reactivation happened only in 1 case of HBsAg- group after treatment. The HBV infection rate in MM patients after chemotherapy was significantly enhenced as compared with infection rate before chemotherapy(P< 0.05). CONCLUSION: The HBV infection rate in MM patients is higher than that in normal persons, moreover tha HBV-reactivation may happen in patients with ocult HBV infection in process of treatment; the HBV infection correlates with MM to a certain degree. The monitoring HBsAg for MM patients contributes to evaluation of liver danage.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy differences between integrative therapy of electroacupuncture and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and simple rTMS only in the treatment of comorbid anxiety and depression (CAD). METHODS: Eighty-five cases of CAD were randomized into two groups. The observation group (40 cases) was treated with electroacupuncture at Baihui (GV 20), Yintang (EX-HN 3), Shenting (GV 24), Shenmen (HT 7) and Neiguan (PC 6) mainly, combined with rTMS. The control group (45 cases) was treated with simple rTMS. Separately, before treatment, after 5 days and 10 days treatment, Hemilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hemilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) were used for the scoring of depression and anxiety. Additionally, the efficacies were compared between two groups. RESULTS: After 5 days, 10 days treatment, the scores of HAMA, HAMD were reduced remarkably as compared with those before treatment in two groups (all P < 0.001), HAMA score in observation group was lower than that in control group after 10 days treatment (P < 0.05). The remarkable effective rates of depression and anxiety in observation group those 10 days that treatment were 87. 1% (27/31) and 90.3% (28/31) respectively, which were higher apparently than 61.8% (21/34) and 61.8% (21/34) in control group separately (both P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The integrative therapy of electroacupuncture and rTMS is definitely effective on CAD. This method is better than simple rTMS.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the possible influencing factors of pulmonary dysfunction in coal worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 141 patients with CWP and 200 control miners with similar exposure histories but without apparent pulmonary disease or inflammation were interviewed with the detailed questionnaires (including histories of coal dust-exposure, smoking habits, alcohol consumption, protective mask uses, et al). Lung function examinations were performed at the same time. Predicted formula of lung function index were established by the local healthy residents characters and the pulmonary dysfunction was classified by the ratios between tested and predicted values.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>All parameters of lung function were significantly lower in CWP cases when compared with that of control miners and the healthy controls (P < 0.05). The main types of pulmonary dysfunction were restrictive and mixed ventilation disorders in CWP patients. The factors such as the category of CWP, the mask worn, the smoking quantity and exposure to coal mine dust were included in the unconditional logistic regression model.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>The category of CWP, the usage of mask, the smoking and long duration exposure to coal mine dust may be the main possible influencing factors of pulmonary dysfunction of CWP. Influencing factor analyses were given to inform choice of pertinence preventive measures.</p>
