ABSTRACT

The 4-5 cycles per second (c/s) rhythm is a relatively rare, individual EEG variant. Age distribution of subjects carrying this variant and longitudinal studies over many years have indicated that it may sometimes disappear during middle age. Observations on female monozygotic twins at 15, 23 and 45 years of age suggest that disappearance of this trait might also be under genetic control.

ABSTRACT

The age dependence of the P2 amplitudes of visually evoked cortical responses to checkerboard pattern reversal was examined in 72 healthy individuals of between 10 and 69 years of age. Separate examination of the right and left eye yielded no statistically significant differences in P2 amplitudes. An age dependence of the P2 amplitudes was discovered inasmuch as healthy individuals under 25 years and over 55 are--with high statistical significance--apt to show higher P2 amplitudes than healthy individuals in the remaining life span.

ABSTRACT

An investigation of certain electroencephalographic parameters recorded during 19 psychomotor attacks was made. Each attack had been recorded in full. Fourteen of the attacks were preceded by a temporal focus, 13 were provoked by hyperventilation, 18 were initiated focally, 9 were accompanied by seizure potentials, 7 revealed primary or secondary delta rhythms, and 8 were followed by temporal delta focus.

ABSTRACT

A statistical comparison dealing with age, duration of disease and survival period of patients with involvement of the nervous system by malignant lymphomas revealed the following data: 1. With mycosis fungoides, involvement of the nervous system occurs later in life than with lymphogranulomatosis; this difference is statistically highly significant (P less than 0.001). 2. There is no statistical difference (P greater than 0.05) in the duration of either type of malignant lymphoma before the nervous system becomes involved. 3. It is of high statistical significance (P less than 0.001) that, once the nervous system has become involved, the survival period is lower with mycosis fungoides than with lymphogranulomatosis. It can be expected that involvement of the nervous system by mycosis fungoides leads with 79% probability (confidential limits 99% = 47.29--96.22%) to death within 6 months.
