ABSTRACT
Objetivo: determinar la validez del Corte Evaluativo y la Prueba Intrasemestral como predictores de losresultados finales de la asignatura Biología Celular y Molecular, teniendo en cuenta los indicadores del desempeñode estas herramientas diagnósticas.Métodos: Estudio comparativo transversal. Se emplearon los resultados del Corte, la Prueba Intrasemestraly del Examen Final tomados al azar de 24 grupos de estudiantes de primer año de la Escuela Latinoamericanade Medicina (ELAM), en los cinco cursos comprendidos entre los años 1999 y 2004. El grado de asociación sedeterminó por los valores de concordancia entre los resultados del Corte y la Prueba Intrasemestral con losresultados del Examen Final. Además, se determinó la sensibilidad, especifidad, valores predictivos positivo ynegativo.Resultados: La concordancia entre las variables analizadas predijo aproximadamente el 80 por ciento de los estudiantesque aprueban el Examen Final ordinario de Biología Celular y Molecular. La Prueba Intrasemestrallogró detectar más resultados negativos que el Corte. Se propone una fórmula para predecir los resultadosfinales en la asignatura que tiene en cuenta los resultados históricos.Conclusiones: Este trabajo muestra que la Prueba Intrasemestral en la ELAM es un buen indicador de losresultados en el Examen Final de Biología Celular y Molecular(AU)
Objective: to determine the validity of the Evaluative Cut and the Test Intrasemestral as predictores of the final results of the subject cell biology and Molecular, keeping in mind the indicators of the performance of these diagnostic tools. Methods: Crosscomparative study. The results of the Cut were employed, the Test Intrasemestral and of the Final Exam taken at random of 24 groups of students of first year of the Latin-American School of Medicine (ELAM), in the five courses understood between the years 1999and 2004. The degree of association was determined for the values of agreement between the results of the Cut and the Test Intrasemestral with the results of the Final Exam. Besides, the sensibility was determined, especifidad, values predictivos positive andnegative. Results: The agreement among the variables analyzed predicted approximately the 80 percent of the students that pass the Test Final ordinary of cell biology and Molecular. The Test Intrasemestral managed to detect more negative results that the Cut. A formula is proposed to predict the final results in the subject that keeps in mind the historic results. Conclusions: This work shows that the Test Intrasemestral in the ELAM is a good indicator of the results in the Final Exam of cell biology and Molecular(AU)
