ABSTRACT
Se realizó un estudio analítico retrospectivo de tipo casocontrol, pareados 1:2, en pacientes mayores de 60 años con retinopatía diabética, en el Servicio de Oftalmología del Hospital Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna de la provincia de Las Tunas, entre los años 2011 y 2012, con el objetivo de determinar los factores de riesgo que influyen en la aparición de la retinopatía diabética en esas edades. Los casos estuvieron conformados por 45 pacientes con retinopatía diabética, que acudieron a la consulta de catarata. Para el control por cada paciente con esta afección se parearon dos pacientes mayores de 60 años sin retinopatía diabética. El sexo masculino y el grupo de edad de 60-69 años fueron los que predominaron, el mayor número de casos con retinopatía diabética apareció después de 15 años de evolución de la diabetes. La hipertensión arterial, el hábito de fumar, la hipertrigliceridemia y la cirugía de catarata constituyeron los principales factores de riesgo para la aparición de la retinopatía diabética (AU)
A retrospective analytic study of type case-control 1:2 in patients' elderly than 60 years with diabetic retinopathy, in the Ophthalmology Service at the Dr Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Hospital in Las Tunas held from 2011 and 2012 to determine the risk factors that influence in the appearance of the diabetic retinopathy in those ages. The cases conformed by a group 45 patients with diabetic retinopathy that went to the cataract consultation. In order to obtain results for each patient with the affection, were paired two patients' elderly than 60 years without diabetic retinopathy. The masculine sex and the group of age of 60-69 prevailed, the biggest number of cases with diabetic retinopathy appeared after 15 years of evolution of the diabetes. The Arterial Hypertension, the habit of smoking, and the cataract surgery were the main risk factors for the appearance of the diabetic retinopathy (AU)
