ABSTRACT

Introduction: Zika virus is transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes, but it can also occur through an intrauterine infection before delivery, and the virus passes to the fetus. Objective: describe the level of impairment in performance skills and maturation age of brave boys and girls of the future program with neonatal Zika virus infection. Materials and Methods: Research is framed with a quantitative correlational approach supported by field research and non-experimental design, with a sample of 15 infants aged 3, 4 and 5 years. The data collection technique used was the Abbreviated Scale. Results: Regarding the areas evaluated with respect to maturational age, it was found that the weighting of motor skills and praxis found a correlation coefficient of 0.601 (moderate) and in the sample of performance skills of 3-year-old children. With gestational zika, a correlation of 0.853 (strong) was obtained. Discussion: Zika virus infection in boys and girls, acquired during pregnancy, strongly limits the execution skills typical of maturational age in this population. Conclusions: there is a correlation between infants with gestational zika and strong involvement in the actions or behaviors that a patient has in moving and physically interacting with activities, objects and thus performing a learned motor activity.

ABSTRACT

Cognitive radio networks (CRN) allow for an increase in spectral efficiency and performance of today's wireless networks. Currently, multiple proposals exist in the area of spectral decision-making and mobility; however, very few evaluate the impact of collaboration between secondary users and the performance of spectrum access by many secondary users. Unlike existing works, this article provides a comprehensive quantitative analysis of the performance of CRN taking into account access to the spectrum simultaneously by multiple users and decision making based on collaboration through the exchange of information between nearby secondary users. This proposal is developed through the implementation of four modules: Input Module, Multi-user Module, Collaborative module and Decision-making module, where the results are evaluated comparatively through the handoff rate generated with two multicriteria techniques: Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Multi-Criteria Optimization and Compromise Solution (VIKOR). The evaluation is carried out taking into account three levels of collaboration, three multi-user access scenarios, and two multi-criteria techniques for a total of 18 simulation scenarios. The results obtained show the importance of implementing collaboration strategies, as for multi-user access, the number of handoffs increases as the number of serial users increases. TOPSIS presented the best results in 76 % of the analyzed cases where VIKOR generated a smaller number of handoffs; TOPSIS maintained good performance with differences not exceeding 90 handoffs.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This article reports an investigation about the degree of well-being in a randomly selected group of institutionalized older adults in Cúcuta, Colombia. The PERMA profile of Butler and Kern (2016) was adapted to Spanish and used to measure positive emotions, commitment, relationships, meaning, and achievements. Results show a medium level of self-reported well-being. Age was a major factor in the perception of the well-being of institutionalized older adults, but disability, regardless of grade, was not. The link with the world of labour also has a significant impact on their perception of integral well-being. The test also established a high and significant correlation between all dimensions of the model and the perception of health.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Objective: This paper aims to determine whether saccades influence academic performance of elementary school students. Methodology: 121 vulnerable elementary school students from an educational institution from Cucuta, Colombia were used as non-probabilistic or convenience samples. These students were divided into two groups, as follows: 56 high academic achievers students: 60 % girls and 40 % boys, with an average age of 11.70 years and 65 underperforming average students: 40 % girls and 60 % boys, with an average age of 12.29 years. King & Devick (1976), or K-D test saccades test was applied. Results: The results showed statistically significant differences between the means of reading times of each of the cards and the average total reading time of the three test cards K-D. Also significant differences in the percentage of students who had problems with saccades, showing in the group with high yield a much higher percentage of students without problems in eye movement function at the time that the group with low aca demic performance was found. Conclusion: The results highlight the importance of working eye movements as saccadic issue which seem to influence on their students academic performance.
