ABSTRACT
INTRODUCCIÓN: La enseñanza de la medicina natural y tradicional en las universidades cubanas constituye una prioridad para el sistema nacional de salud, no obstante, la deficiencia literaria de esta temática relacionada con la disciplina de la pediatría ha atentado contra la calidad de la enseñanza. Las tecnologías de la informática y las comunicaciones son consideradas parte importante del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje dentro de la educación médica superior. OBJETIVO: Confeccionar una aplicación multimedia para el estudio de la medicina natural y tradicional integrada a la asignatura de Pediatría del plan de estudio de la carrera de Medicina. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio de innovación tecnológica en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Ciego de Ávila, en el período comprendido de octubre de 2015 a abril de 2016. Para la confección de la aplicación multimedia se identificaron como etapas de trabajo la búsqueda y recopilación de información científica, la selección de herramientas y medios y el diseño. Se valoró la pertinencia científica de la aplicación multimedia creada por 20 expertos en la materia. Se determinó el criterio de 25 estudiantes (usuarios) y 6 docentes, que constituyeron la muestra, sobre su experiencia con el producto y se determinó su efectividad a través de un preexperimento pedagógico. RESULTADOS: El producto creado se diseñó sobre la base de una interfaz de usuario atractiva y con información científica actualizada de utilidad para el aprendizaje. La media de la evaluación otorgada por expertos a los diferentes aspectos de la aplicación multimedia fue de 8,01 puntos (de un máximo de 9). Los estudiantes emitieron valoraciones de «bien» en cuanto al contenido que trata el producto, su facilidad de uso, la funcionalidad, la originalidad y el diseño. Tras la utilización del producto más del 60% de los estudiantes (n = 25) logra responder las preguntas del test. CONCLUSIONES: La aplicación multimedia creada logró satisfacer las necesidades de aprendizaje en estudiantes y constituyó un recurso válido y útil como herramienta de apoyo a la docencia
INTRODUCTION: The teaching of natural and traditional medicine in Cuban universities constitutes a priority for the national health system. Nevertheless, the lack of publications in the literature on topic related to the paediatrics discipline has affected the quality of the teaching. The computer science and communications technologies are considered an important part of the teaching-learning process within higher medical education. OBJECTIVE: To construct a multimedia application for the integrated study of natural and traditional medicine in the paediatrics subject into the study plan of the Medical degree. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A study of technological innovation was carried out in the University of Medical Sciences of Ciego de Ávila, in the period from October 2015 to April 2016. In order to construct the multimedia, the search and summary of scientific information, selection of tools, and means and design, were all identified as work stations. The scientific relevancy of the multimedia application was determined by 20 experts in the subject. The opinion of 25 students (users) and 6 teachers that constituted the sample was sought about their experience with the product, with its effectiveness being determined through a pedagogic pre-experiment. RESULTS: The created product was designed on the base of an attractive user interface and with modernised scientific information of use for the learning of the topic. The mean evaluation score given by experts to the different aspects of the multimedia application was of 8.01 points (of a maximum of 9). The students gave good evaluations as regards the content, relevance of the product, its ease of use, functionality, originality, and design. After using the product, more than 60% of the students (n = 25) were able to answer the questions of the test. CONCLUSIONS: The created multimedia application was able to satisfy the learning needs of the students, and it constituted a valid and useful resource as a teaching support tool
