ABSTRACT

A direct measurement of the decay width of the excited 0_{1}^{+} state of ^{6}Li using the relative self-absorption technique is reported. Our value of Γ_{γ,0_{1}^{+}→1_{1}^{+}}=8.17(14)_{stat.}(11)_{syst.} eV provides sufficiently low experimental uncertainties to test modern theories of nuclear forces. The corresponding transition rate is compared to the results of ab initio calculations based on chiral effective field theory that take into account contributions to the magnetic dipole operator beyond leading order. This enables a precision test of the impact of two-body currents that enter at next-to-leading order.

ABSTRACT

We describe what we believe is the first psychiatric hospitalization due to GHB-induced delirium reported in the medical literature. We examine the use of the substance gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) and describe the clinical findings in a patient who presented to an acute inpatient psychiatric unit with a chief complaint of feeling suicidal and a 1-year history of GHB use. A review of the literature and GHB's availability through the Internet are discussed.

ABSTRACT

In his thesis inspired on Favre's works, Phylactos (in 1922) synthetized the knowledges prevailing then on the disease which was characterized in 1913 by Durand, Nicolas, and Favre. He distinguished this disease from tuberculosis, Hodgkin's disease, pestis, syphilis, and chancroid, thus establishing the basic elements of the clinical diagnosis of lymphogranuloma venereum. In 1924, Gamma described the intracellular inclusions, thus giving rise to the biological diagnosis. In 1925, Frei proved that the heated pus filtrate obtained from buboes induced a specific intradermal reaction. In 1927, Gay Prieto described the elementary corpuscles.
