ABSTRACT

The data presented in this article are related to the research article entitled "Cyclic Shear behavior of conventional and harmonic structure-designed Ti-25Nb-25Zr ß-titanium alloy: Back-stress hardening and twinning inhibition" (Dirras et al., 2017) [1]. The datasheet describes the methods used to fabricate two ß-titanium alloys having conventional microstructure and so-called harmonic structure (HS) design via a powder metallurgy route, namely the spark plasma sintering (SPS) route. The data show the as-processed unconsolidated powder microstructures as well as the post-SPS ones. The data illustrate the mechanical response under cyclic shear loading of consolidated alloy specimens. The data show how electron back scattering diffraction(EBSD) method is used to clearly identify induced deformation features in the case of the conventional alloy.

ABSTRACT

Bulk Ni-W alloys having composite-like microstructures are processed by spark plasma sintering (SPS) route of Ni and W powder blends as reported in a recent study of Sadat et al. (2016) (DOI of original article: doi:10.1016/j.matdes.2015.10.083) [1]. The present dataset deals with determination of mass density and evaluation of room temperature compressive mechanical properties as function of the amount of W (%wt. basis). The presented data concern: (i) measurement of the mass of each investigated Ni-W alloy which is subsequently used to compute the mass density of the alloy and (ii) the raw (stress (MPa) and strain ([Formula: see text])) data, which can be subsequently used for stress/ strain plots.

ABSTRACT

The work here exposed is divided in two studies: clinical and therapeutical. 1--Clinical. The occurrence of shoulder hand syndrome has been studied in 130 patients with hemiplegia. Although the preventive treatment was correct in all cases, 90 of them developed neurodystrophy. It is shown that the appearance and the intensity of this syndrome can be predicted with some certainly as soon as three weeks after the onset of hemiplegia, since there is a statistically significant correlation with the aetiology and the existence of some associated factors. 2--Therapeutical. The efficacy of eight treatments (calcitonin, blocking agents, intravenous clomipramine, blocking agents, periarterial injections of local anaesthetics, local or general corticotherapy, physiotherapy, kinesitherapy), randomly given to the patients, was compared (90 patients and 130 treatments). Local corticotherapy was the most efficient treatment. Physiotherapy was less efficient but always well tolerated. All the other treatments were much less active. Kinesitherapy was however always necessary to prevent joint ankylosis. No correlation was found between the intensity of the shoulder hand syndrome and the efficacy of treatments.
