ABSTRACT

In 127 samples of the plasma from the umbilical vein obtained between one and five minutes after spontaneous normal vertex delivery, the coagulation inhibition was measured. The inhibition increases with increasing bearing down. There is no correlation between the duration of the second stage and the duration of the pregnancy. In gel-chromatography from plasma fractions of adults and newborns, prepared in the same manner, only in the newborn material a protein was found which inhibits coagulation. The significance of the coagulation inhibitor developed by the newborn in correlation to its maturity is discussed.

ABSTRACT

203 Plasma samples from the umbilical vein were tested for their inhibitory activity in coagulation. Disturbance of the assay by the presence of thrombocytes, fibrin(ogen) degradation products and by storage was avoided by an improved preparation method of the plasma. The mean inhibition was dependent on the way of delivery (spontaneous, by vaginal operation or by caesarean section). The mean inhibition was also dependent on birth weight and on the duration of gravidity. A possible mechanism for the generation of the inhibition is discussed.

ABSTRACT

1048 antepartal cardiotocogram of 230 pregnant women have been staged on the basis of the Fischer-Score published in April 1976. Their clinical and prognostical value has been evaluated. We compared this staging with other antepartal diagnostic parameters as there are: human-placental-lactogen, estriol and retrospectively the morphology of the placenta. Fischer-Score shows in 96,5% of all defined cases an exact and actual diagnosis of the fetal status. A Fischer-Score of 4 or less is not compatible with an improvement of the fetal status. Further stage of labour must be observed very carefully and preparations for caesarean section should be performed.

ABSTRACT

In a comparative description of norm- and anencephal fetus typical heart rate patterns at death in utero are demonstrated and the imminent danger is described by 5 characteristic parameters. As several figures show heart rate patterns are not influenced by fetal deformation and immaturity. The sinusoidal oscillation is not imparative in prefinal stage.
