ABSTRACT
We report 2 cases of both functional and non functional paragangliomas. Emphasis is put on preoperative localization. CT along with echography is recommended as the initial radiographic procedure. If the tumor is not detected or in case of multiple tumors, a scintigram using MIBG is performed as a second still difficult to define. This feature is of importance in the long term follow up.

Seventeen cases of anterior urethral injuries are presented. The authors define the management of these lesions: emergency IVP and suprapubic catheter drainage; after three to five days, retrograde and voiding urethrography and surgical repair: end to end anastomosis when the rupture is complete (8 cases with 7 good results, 1 fair result), in case of partial rupture, surgical repair should be preferred (2 cases with 2 good results); the other alternatives, urethral catheter (2 cases), or suprapubic catheter drainage with delayed treatment of stricture (3 cases), appeared to be less comfortable, contusions must be treated conservatively.

Report of two cases of truncular dermoepidermal skin defect in newborn. The defect concerned the lateral thoracoabdominal area, on both sides of the umbilicus, jointed with a fine linear communication, and have the classical butterfly wind-like shape. Recovery was achieved by centripetal spontaneous cicatrization, only managed with protective vitamin dressing, in about 45 days. There was no clinical evidence of other anomaly. In this occasion, an exhaustive review of congenital skin defects is done. This disease is not frequent, 500 cases are published, principally in the scalp area (vertex). Thoracoabdominal localisation (10%) are symmetrical, spontaneously healing without surgery, in spite of a large defect. Skin defect of extremities (25% of cases) have also a good issue, except in case of associated congenital diseases; on the other hand scalp defects are sometimes complicated with sepsis or bleeding. Discussion emphasize the characteristics of skin defects, the possible pathological association (rare in case of thoracoabdominal defect) and pathogenic hypothesis, not yet definite at all.

A new method for exploring the lumbar spine by means of serial computed tomography sections is proposed, radio-anatomical appearances of the normal lumbar canal and its contents being described and illustrated.
