ABSTRACT
The experimental study results of a chirped pulse amplification regime are reported for the Yb:LuAlO3 crystal with different polarization states in the gain media for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. Maximum output power of 5 W with 565 fs pulse duration was obtained for E//b-polarization at a 200 kHz repetition rate seeded by a 98 fs Yb:KYW oscillator. 165 fs pulses with output power of 4.5 W were demonstrated for E//c-polarized light in the crystal.
ABSTRACT
The influence of Ca codoping on the optical absorption, photo-, radio-, and thermo-luminescence properties of YAlO3 :Ce (YAP:Ce) crystals has been studied for four different calcium concentrations ranging from 0 to 500â ppm. Ca codoping results in a partial oxidation of Ce3+ into Ce4+ , The luminescence time response under pulsed X-ray excitation of the Ce3+ /Ce4+ admixure clearly demonstrates the role of hole migration on both the rise time and the generally observed slow components. From an application point of view, Ca codoping significantly improves the timing performances, but the induced presence of Ce4+ ions is also the cause of a reduction in scintillation efficiency.
ABSTRACT
Crystal growth, polarized spectroscopic properties, lifetime measurements, and CW laser performance under diode pumping of a new Yb3+-doped LuAlO3 crystal (Yb:LuAP) are reported for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The maximum absorption cross section of 6.6·10-20 cm2 at 978.5 nm was determined for E//c polarization. The radiative lifetime of F5/22 manifold of Yb3+ ions in LuAP was measured to be 475 µs. CW laser action was demonstrated with output powers up to 9.6 W and slope efficiencies up to 84.5%. 82 nm tunability range was demonstrated for E//c polarization.
ABSTRACT
The results of an experimental study of the chirped pulse amplification regime are reported for the Yb:CaYAlO4 crystal with different polarization states in the gain media for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. A maximum output power of 4.2 W with 310 fs pulse duration was obtained for σ-polarization at 200 kHz repetition rate seeded by a 85 fs Yb:KYW oscillator. 215 fs pulses with an output power of 3 W and 190 fs with 2.3 W output power were demonstrated for π-polarized light in the crystal. Gain narrowing effects for different polarization states in the crystal are discussed.
