ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of exercise habits on enhancing the sleep quality of older adults. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale and other questionnaires were utilized to assess the sleep quality of older adults aged 60 years and above in the H district. The sampling method employed was stratified random sampling. To analyze the influencing factors of sleep quality, the average treatment effect was estimated, the robustness of the results was assessed and statistical methods such as Logit regression and propensity score matching were employed. The study revealed that exercise habits strongly correlated with improved sleep quality in the older adult (p < 0.05), with the average total sleep quality score being 6.22 (±3.53). It was observed that older adults who engaged in exercise habits experienced a significant 12.66% increase in the likelihood of achieving good sleep. This investigation highlights the positive association between exercise habits and enhanced sleep quality among older adults. Additionally, age, physical pain and self-rated health statuses were identified as significant factors influencing sleep quality in this population. To enhance the sleep quality of older adults, this article recommends promoting relevant exercise habits, thus contributing to their overall well-being and quality of life.

ABSTRACT

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) object detection plays a crucial role in civil, commercial, and military domains. However, the high proportion of small objects in UAV images and the limited platform resources lead to the low accuracy of most of the existing detection models embedded in UAVs, and it is difficult to strike a good balance between detection performance and resource consumption. To alleviate the above problems, we optimize YOLOv8 and propose an object detection model based on UAV aerial photography scenarios, called UAV-YOLOv8. Firstly, Wise-IoU (WIoU) v3 is used as a bounding box regression loss, and a wise gradient allocation strategy makes the model focus more on common-quality samples, thus improving the localization ability of the model. Secondly, an attention mechanism called BiFormer is introduced to optimize the backbone network, which improves the model's attention to critical information. Finally, we design a feature processing module named Focal FasterNet block (FFNB) and propose two new detection scales based on this module, which makes the shallow features and deep features fully integrated. The proposed multiscale feature fusion network substantially increased the detection performance of the model and reduces the missed detection rate of small objects. The experimental results show that our model has fewer parameters compared to the baseline model and has a mean detection accuracy higher than the baseline model by 7.7%. Compared with other mainstream models, the overall performance of our model is much better. The proposed method effectively improves the ability to detect small objects. There is room to optimize the detection effectiveness of our model for small and feature-less objects (such as bicycle-type vehicles), as we will address in subsequent research.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is threefold: (1) investigate the impact of subjective socioeconomic status on the health of older people with a further exploration of its extent, (2) explore the relationship between diverse class mobility trajectories and health disparities among older people, and (3) examine the health disparities among older people with different subjective socioeconomic statuses in groups of various class mobility. The data for this study came from the Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) of 2017, and regression and moderation models are used. The results indicate that for each level of increase in the subjective socioeconomic status of older people, the health score significantly increased by 0.159. The health status of older people who experienced upward class mobility is significantly better than those who did not; therefore, different class mobility trajectories also shape health disparities. The moderation role of class mobility on the impact of subjective socioeconomic status on the health of older people is also confirmed. The results provide further support for the subjective socioeconomic status having a significant impact on the health of older people with different class mobility trajectories. An upward class mobility trajectory somewhat diminishes this influence. Therefore, policy interventions should be provided to enhance the subjective socioeconomic status of older people and increase their opportunities for upward class mobility.
