ABSTRACT

Our study evaluates the correlation between benign and malignant breast masses contrast enhancement, on the one hand, and the type of the vascular net and histological prognosis, on the other. We reviewed the preoperative images of 298 breast masses (benign--95 (32%), malignant--203 (68%)) after dynamic contrast enhancement as well as on the basis of pathomorphological data. Due to use of high-concentration paramagnetic contrast agents in ultra-fast sequences, benign and malignant tumors could be differentiated. The quantitative data on both intensive contrast and ring-shaped enhancement corresponded to the low capillary density in the center of carcinoma which correlated with poor prognosis.

ABSTRACT

The report deals with potential of present-day techniques for radiological imaging, differential diagnosis and working out of modalities of treatment for primary and metastatic hepatic tumors. Results of complex examination (ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET using fluorine -18 FDG) of patients with benign and malignant tumors are discussed. Sensitivity and specificity of each procedure have been identified to be used in diagnosis of large-size tumors.

ABSTRACT

Potential of contrast-enhanced MR imaging (MRI) in diagnosis of breast tumors was studied in 112 patients aged 18-64 (76 suspects and 36--after combined treatment). The method proved highly-effective and specific--92 and 81%, respectively. The best timing was 3 months after surgery and 8 months after irradiation. No significant advantage of either one- or polymolar contrast agents was observed. MRI is highly efficient in diagnosing hypervascular formations, tumor grading and making prognosis. It is a method of choice in evaluating neoadjuvant polychemotherapy findings and combined treatment monitoring.

ABSTRACT

The practice of examinations of more than 400 patients in the diagnostic center of CRIRR showed a high diagnostic efficiency of contrast MRA, especially in stenoses, occlusions, pathologic bends of the brachiocephalic vessels; aneurysms and stenoses of the abdominal and thoracic aorta, stenoses and occlusions of visceral branches of the abdominal aorta, iliac arteries including condition of vessels after surgical correction. Valuable facts have been obtained in vasorenal hypertension caused by stenoses, occlusions, extravasal compressions, additional arteries, and in the portal system (thrombosis of the main trunk and branches of the portal vein, signs of portal hypertension).

ABSTRACT

Aiming to study diagnostic potential of MRA 286 patients have bean observed with pathology of the brain vessels. High efficiency of MRA has been confirmed: sensitivity and specificity with vascular malformations were 98% and 96%, with arterial aneurysm it was 97% and 82%, with stenosis of more than 50% it was 98% and 46%, with stenosis of less than 50% it was 96% and 84%, with thrombosis--100% and 100%. It was noted that TOF method is the most informative nature to estimate the arterial bed. We have managed to study with the PC method venous component of malformation, residual flow in huge thrombosed aneurysm, condition of the external carotid arteries and their branches.
