ABSTRACT

Twenty patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy were examined. They were found to have late ventricular potentials in the disease, which were characterized by an increase in average QRS complex duration, a decrease in voltage, and a rise in the duration of last 40 msec of the QRS complex filtered. Such patients generally exhibited lower exercise tolerance in severe asymmetric left ventricular hypertrophy, which caused a significant deterioration of cardiac pump function.

ABSTRACT

Diagnostic electrocardiostimulation (ECS) of the right atrium with evaluation of the functional state of the heart conduction system and coronary reserve was carried out in 177 patients. The level of blood catecholamines, activity of cholinesterase and content of destroyed acetylcholine, cortisol, free fatty acids, glucose, insulin, thyroxine, triiodothyronine, renin, testosterone, calcium was determined before and at the height of diagnostic ECS. In cases with a tendency to bradycardia one could note compensatory tension of the sympathetic-adrenal system and mechanisms of general adaptation. In organic weakness of the sinus node with stable bradysystole there were signs of exhaustion of the adrenal reserves of catecholamines and cortisol manifested in paradoxic reduction of them in the blood in response to frequent ECS and corresponding changes of energy provision.

ABSTRACT

In 165 patients with myocardial infarction admitted to the clinic within the first 24 hours of the disease the size of the zone of the lesion and its dynamics were appraised in the immediate 4-5 days. Cartographic ECG analysis and study of the vectorcardiogram in dynamics and analysis of the creatine phosphokinase activity curves make it possible to appraise the dynamics of the necrotic zone in the first days of myocardial infarction. It was found that in most patients with macrofocal myocardial infarction the zone of the necrosis increases both in length and in depth in the first days of the disease.
