ABSTRACT

The key characteristics of managed care organizations (MCOs), including their organizational structure and history of innovations in delivering care to defined populations, make them uniquely suited to support women's health care services. In addition, their use of standardized performance measures and commitment to best practices facilitates continual quality improvements, and their involvement in outreach and education is of particular value in empowering women to live healthier lives.
