ABSTRACT

Evaluation of neurotic disorders (ND) in 168 patients with rheumatoid arthritis revealed them in 65.6% of the cases including 22.6% weak, 31.7% moderate and 14.9% severe ones. Asthenovegetative disorders were most frequently detected (61.3%). They associated with emotional, hypochondriac, hysterical, and obsessional disorders in 24.4, 14.3, 9.5, and 4.8% of the patients respectively. ND were treated depending on their type and severity. Mild ND were managed by combined therapy including general tonics, physiotherapeutic procedures, and remedial gymnastics. Patients with moderate ND were given sedative medicines (novopassit, sedavit, glycine, peony tincture). Severe ND were managed using antidepressants and tranquilizers. Duration of therapy was 10-21 days depending on its form. The treatment eliminated all symptoms of ND in 66 (54.1%) and reduced them in 44 (36.1%) of the patients. The outcome of psychotherapy was regarded as unsatisfactory in 11.5%, satisfactory in 26.2%, and positive in 62.3% of the patients. These values in a control group of 46 patients without HD were 10.8, 37.0, and 52.2% respectively.

ABSTRACT

Nervous-psychic status by criteria of the V. P. Serbsky Center of Mental Health (Moscow) was assessed in 107 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (n = 54), osteoarthritis deformans (n = 35), gout (n = 11), ankylosing spondyloarthritis (n = 7). Autonomic and psychosomatic, asthenic, affective, hypochondriac, phobic, hysteric disorders were detected in 24.3, 15.9, 8.4, 7.5, 4.6 and 2.8% of examinees, respectively. These disorders correlated with the form and duration of the underlying disease, age of the patients, severity of anemia and joint dysfunction. Such social factors as invalidity, family and financial problems, frequent pregnancies and labor also contributed to development of nervous-psychic disorders.

ABSTRACT

Clinico-statistical analysis of the role of pathogenic grounds for prediction of the first attack of alcoholic psychosis and its course was performed in 689 patients with alcoholic psychoses. The patients concentrated within the age group of 20 to 39 years. In the control group (without the pathological grounds) this period is shifted to 35-49 years. The authors concluded that younger patients of the main group are at higher risk of alcoholic psychosis due to the impact of high risk factors on the progress rate of the disease.

ABSTRACT

The paper deals with the clinical peculiarities and common characteristics of the formation and pathogenesis of the main symptoms of alcoholism in individuals with and without lung tuberculosis. The conducted clinical study suggests that the pathoplastic pathogenetic effect of lung tuberculosis results in an accelerated development of the main symptoms of alcoholism and is responsible for polymorphism of the clinical picture including the atypical symptomatology.
