ABSTRACT

The use of nickel-titanium instruments during endodontic treatment ensures high-quality treatment of root canals. However, during instrumentation in the curved root canals of nickel-titanium instruments experience cyclic loading, which leads to their breakage. The splinter of the tool in the root canal makes it difficult for high-quality processing and obturation of the root canal, which is a very urgent problem. To carry out instrumental processing in canals with various anatomical and topographic features, the files must have phenomenal flexibility, lack of straightening of the canal, and have a safe non-aggressive tip. And for this reason, one of the most popular nickel-titanium COXO SC PRO tools was selected as a study, which, according to the manufacturer, have all the listed properties. The aim of the study is to determine the limit of resistance to cyclic loading and signs of breakage of the nickel-titanium endodontic instrument COXO SC PRO. Sterilization treatment, which is based on autoclaving, significantly reduces the strength characteristics of COXO SC PRO nickel-titanium files, which limits the use of these tools to one-time use without the risk of their breakage.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to determine clinical and diagnostic distinctions between the episodes of recurrent depression and bipolar depression. The subjects of the study were 79 patients meeting ICD-10 criteria for either recurrent depressive disorder or bipolar affective disorder. Patient with recurrent depression presented more prominent HDRS symptoms of depressed mood, psychomotor retardation, somatic anxiety, and gastro-intestinal somatic complains. Bipolar patients had more scores related to middle and late insomnia, agitation and suicide. In addition lower length of remission was observed in bipolar depression. The revealed differences should be taken into account in diagnostic and pharmacological treatment of various types of depression.

ABSTRACT

The study of the asporogenic and facultative microflora in the contents of the large intestine in salmonellosis patients has revealed the presence of dysbacteriosis manifested, irrespective of the serovar of the isolated infective agent, by a decrease in asporogenic microflora and an increase in E. coli and staphylococci. Dysbacteriosis develops irrespective of the clinical form of the disease, but it is more pronounced if the disease takes a dysentery-like course. The average amount of released salmonellae in the gastrointestinal and dysentery-like forms of the disease has been the same, which indicates that the shift is probably linked with the dominant localization of the process depending, in its turn, on the virulence of the infective agent.

ABSTRACT

The authors studied the role played by Sac-plasmide of atypical S. newport strains inducing a more severe course of the disease in the development of the infectious process in man. In experiments with genetically-bound strains of salmonellae and E. coli K12, differing by the presence of Sac-plasmide, it was shown that the acquisition or the loss of the latter failed to effect significantly the capacity of the microbes to cause death of chick embryos infected on the membrane, to reproduce in the pulmonary tissue of mice infected intranasally, and affect the cells of the L1 strain. Genetic confirmation of the absence of any connection between the sucrose sign determined by plasmide and the capacity of the strains to cause dilatation of the ligated rabbit intestinal loop was presented. The data obtained indicated that high virulence of the S. newport strains under study was not associated with the presence of Sacplasmide in them.

ABSTRACT

The same types of salmonellae with the same antigenic structure could be the causative agents of various clinical forms of diseases. Two groups of strains of 11 serological types isolated from the patients were studied on 4 biological models: in the keratoconjunctival test on guinea pigs, on a pulmonary model, on an isolated loop of the rabbit intestine and on chick embryos. Results demonstrated that the form of the disease could be a reflection not only of the state of the macroorganism reactivity, but also of the characteristics of the strain of the causative agent. Thus, of 23 strains isolated from the patients with dysentery-like and typhoid form of salmonellosis, 6 caused keratoconjunctivitis and demonstrated a high virulence on all the models in comparison with the 22 strains isolated from patients with the gastrointestinal form.
