ABSTRACT

Various forms of malocclusion which deepens upon unilateral or bilateral mandibular dislocation are discussed. The emphasis is on diagnostic problems in dislocation produced in an unconscious patient, during the general anesthesia, epileptic fit, following tooth extraction or in edentulous patient. Author's own 3 patients with mandibular dislocation lasting between 2 weeks and 2.5 years are presented. In these cases etiological factor of malocclusion was erroneously diagnosed as Bell's disease or drug-induced extrapyramidal dyskinesis.

ABSTRACT

The authors present the use of carotid angiography for the diagnosis of maxillofacial cavernous haemangiomata. Radiological investigation of vessels permits the identification of the exact site and range of pathological change but also the evaluation of the mechanism of tissue healing following cryogenic treatment.

ABSTRACT

The author using cryoapplicator of his own modification presents cryosurgery as a successful surgical technique in cases of haemangiomas involving the face, lips, tongue and oral cavity. From 1968 to 1974 in the Stomatological Clinic of Lublin 56 patients were operated upon using this method. The results were very encouraging. Total regression of haemangiomas and regeneration of normal mucosa with no noticeable scar resulted. A method of cryosurgery especially suitable for very young patients or for those who are poor risks because of associated disease and advanced age is suggested.
