ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Single eyelids of many individuals seek incision-based blepharoplasty to construct double eyelids. However, excessive tissue damage is still a common problem after this surgery. Much of the tissue injury incurred during blepharoplasty results from damage to vertical blood vessels in the superficial and deep layers, so we designed a new modified incisional-based blepharoplasty method that preserves superficial and deep blood vessels. PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of this preservation of superficial and deep blood vessels approach to incisional-based blepharoplasty. METHODS: We retrospectively examined the outcomes of 462 consecutive patients receiving this new method from January 2015 to December 2019. The surgical methods were designed to preserve superficial and deep blood vessels to the greatest extent possible. All patients were followed up for 6 to 40 months. Postoperative evaluations were performed and patients graded results at final follow-up as excellent, good, fair, or poor. The combined proportion of excellent, good, and fair was deemed the satisfaction rate. RESULTS: The overall satisfaction rate was 94.16% (435/462). Postoperative swelling regressed significantly during the first week and disappeared by 4 weeks postsurgery for patients without ptosis or with mild ptosis, whereas swelling regressed in 2 to 5 weeks for patients with moderate ptosis. Fourteen patients (3.03%, 14/462) displayed obvious bruising after surgery. CONCLUSIONS: This new blepharoplasty method yielded a high satisfaction rate, rapid dissipation of swelling, low bruising, and low complication rate. This effective and safe surgical method warrants wider use for single eyelid and mild/moderate ptosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the surgical skill and curative effect of Scarf combined with modified Mcbride osteotomy for treating moderate to severe hallux valgus. Methods Thirty-eight patients (47 feet) with moderate to severe hallux valgus in the Southwest Hospital of Army Military Medical University from July 2014 to June 2015 were selected and treated by Scarf combined with modified Mcbride osteotomy, among them,31 cases(38 feet) were followed up.The cases of phalanx proximal articular angle(PAA) enlargement were added with Akin osteotomy hallex proximal phalanx, and 2,3 plantar Weil osteotomy was used in the patients with 2,3 plantar bone metastasis pain. The hallux valgus angle (HVA),1,2 intermetatarsal angle (IMA),distal metatarsal joint fixed angle(DMAA),PAA were compared between before and after surgery by the erect position, anteroposterior position and lateral X-ray films. The therapeutic effects were assessed by adopting the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS) scoring system. Results The follow-up time was 12~18 months(average 16.42 months).HVA was decreased from preoperative(41.82±5.28)° to postoperative(17.03±4.04)°,IMA was decreased from preoperative(19.00 ± 3.78)°to postoperative(9.24 ± 1.98)°,DMAA was decreased from preoperative(19.42±5.65)°to postoperative(8.71±2.74)°,PAA was decreased from preoperative (5.66± 3.27) ° to postoperative (3.82 ± 2.09) °,and AOFAS score was increased from preoperative (41.47 ± 6.29) to postoperative (84.82 ± 6.43),the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Scarf combined with modified Mcbride osteotomy has satisfactory effect for treating moderate to severe hallux valgus.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To establish a method for the determination of curcumine and berberine hydrochloride in Shangke Dieda paste. Methods:An HPLC method was adopted to determine the content of curcumine and berberine hydrochloride in Shangke Dieda paste. For curcumine, the column was InertSutain C18 (250 mm × 4. 6 mm,5 μm); the mobile phase was acetonitrile and 4% acetic acid solution (44 ∶56);the flow rate was 1. 0 ml·min-1;the column temperature was 25℃;the detection wavelength was 430 nm;the sample size was 10μl. For berberine hydrochloride, the column was InertSutain C18 (250 mm × 4. 6 mm,5μm);the mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid (44 ∶56, 0. 2 g dodecyl sodium sulfate was added to 100 ml solution); the flow rate was 1. 0 ml·min-1;the column temperature was 25℃ ;the detection wavelength was 345 nm;the sample size was 10 μl. Results:A good linear correlation was obtained within the range of 0.01-0.50 μg (r =0.999 3) for curcumin and 0.02-0.16 μg(r =0. 999 9) for berberine hydrochloride. The average recovery was 101. 03% with RSD of 1. 75% for curcumin and 99. 20% with RSD of 0. 64% for berberine hydrochloride (n=9). Conclusion:The established method is simple, accurate, sensitive and specific, which can be used for the quality control of Shangke Dieda paste.

ABSTRACT

Objective To establish the quality standard of Zhilou Lotion. Methods TLC was adopted to identify Radix et Rhizoma Rhei and Cortex Phellodendri. HPLC was adopted to determine the content of chlorogenic acid in Zhilou Lotion. The chromatography column was Agilent Ecilipse XDB-C18 (4.6 mm× 250 mm, 5 μm), the mobile phase was acetonitrile-0.4% phosphoric acid solution (10∶90), the flow rate was 0.80 mL/min, the temperature of column was room temperature, and the detection wavelength was 327 nm. Results The method for identification had good specificity and repeatability. There was no interference in blank control. Chlorogenic acid had good linearity in the range of 2.442-122.1 μg (r=1.000 0). The average recovery rate was 100.30% and RSD was 1.05% (n=9). Conclusion The qualitative and quantitative method is simple, specific, accurate and reliable, and can be used for quality control of Zhilou Lotion.
